I've never had a problem with Wendy's. They're not the greatest burgers in the world, but they're OK and have never made me sick. I'll never eat a burger from McDonald's or Burger King, but actually A&W is still relatively strong in Canada and their burgers aren't too bad for fast food. They are greasy, but relatively tasty.

For a nice "summer burger" on the grill here is what I do. 1 or 2 pounds of 90% lean burger.. the fresher the better... a pinch of salt and pepper, lime zest, and an ounce of cold orange juice. (2 oz. for 2 lbs. of burger). mix thoroughly by hand and make patties. When they are near done... a slathering of avacado dip topped with a slice pepper jack cheese...melt to perfection and stand back. It has a great carribean flavor. Not your normal burger, but if you like any one of the ingredients you'll love these.
If you "must" use anything, no ketchup and mustard..take some miracle whip or mayo and mix in a TOUCH of cayanne pepper.. I said a touch!

We bought some ground lamb and ground veal and made lamb-burgers and vealburgers. I thought them both equally good, but my husband preferred the veal.

I'm going to defrost some of the lamb and try my hand at pastitsio this week.

My local pub serves a burger with an egg on top. I had never seen that before, but I guess it's more prevalent than I thought.

Apparently they never heard of veal in this part of AZ. No butchers, either. Costco had veal cutlets a few months ago, but you had to buy five pounds of them--wouldn't fit in our freezer.

TB, veal is the politically incorrect meat, although I would think that's not the issue in AZ. LOL

That's the problem with Costco's meat, when am I going to eat all of that?

You don't have to eat all of it... you can SHARE it! wink

A few weeks ago had a Fuddrucker's Hadn't had one in years when I lived in Kansas City area. It was darn good. I can remember the days of hanging one on and going to White Castle nothing like alot of grease on top of alot of booze.

Ah, White Castle! None here in AZ. But, when I lived in NJ, I treated myself to five double cheeseburgers every two weeks. There's something uncannily tasty about White Castle burgers, even though they're so tiny.

Here in SD, we don't have one so if I get a craving I go up to Walmart and they have the box's not bad but not as good as when they slide off the grill at the Castle.

UPDATE:

A Five Guys opened near me in March. I've tried them twice. Burgers are just ok, though they put a lot of toppings on them. Fries are sold in huge portions, but they're greasy and limp. In 'n Out is still my favorite--best burgers, and the fries are cut in the store.

Five Guys opened in Canada as well--I might give them a try--Wendy's has gone downhill! Golden Star is still the bets for me. In-N-Out, unfortunately, is a long time away from having locations in Toronto.

In about half an hour I'll be grilling some burgers. It's an early picnic as my son is working around 3 pm. I get the burgers from a local butcher shop, add garlic pepper and sliced cheddar or American. My wife made some chili sauce from her family restaurant recipe as a topping.

I started dating my wife in 1985 when her parens' restaurant had a Monday special of 2 chili dogs for a dollar. That solidified the relationship.

I tried Five Guys and, meh, it was all right, however I can't say that it blew me away. It's expensive!

Sure, it costs more than McDonald's or Wendy's BUT it is REAL meat. If I can afford the $20 I'll get that every time over Mickey D's ... If I'm poor, I'll get the McDonald's.

I'd love to try an In and Out burger, but since I'm a continent away I'll settle for Five Guys.

My wife is on a bit of a health kick just now and she bought some "healthy weight watcher" burgers from our local butcher. Although i told her at first that "i wouldn't eat any of that shite" i did actually try one and it was delicious cool
