. There isn't one single Italian American who can't tell you exactly what town his family is from.
My father's parents were from Lauropoli, in Cosenza, Calabria. And my Mom's parents were from Stigliano, in Matera, Basilicata. But I've always identified more with my Calabrese side because I spent 18 months there before getting married, and it's also the place that we visit the most today. We still own the home that my grandmother was born in in 1906.
