It's been on HBO a lot. I only caught the first part of it and never managed to see the entire movie. I heard it was good tho.

Great flick for sure. Dirty Harry in retirement.

Eastwood has proven to be a great director, as well as actor. (Wel all knew the latter, but with GT, Letters to Iwo Jima and Million Dollar Baby, he's proven the former as well)

(cough.)

Ya gotta love Clint, he is humble , stayed out of all the bull s**t over the years and made very few movies that I would give a thumbs down to lol. He has still got it and I look at the ones that haven't made it. Hell I never even got into the shout, LMAO !

cool Thar, ya go Clint has been my hero, because he is what he is and still fricken alive. cool But also meet Charlie Bronson, super guy.

Getting back to Clint, I have seen most all of his movies, he can do it all, Bridge or 's over Madison County. All are outstanding.

I respect the fuck out of Clint as a filmmaker, and I agree Frosty, he's a consistently good solid director. He knows his acting limitation, but that never stopped him from being ambitious for art. Even popcorn like PLAY MISTY FOR ME, a very good erotic thriller that FATAL ATTRACTION shamelessly ripped off (w/ inferior results), you have sexual and gender politics with a playboy paying the price for treating women like shit and being forced to go back to his ex-lover...an independent woman.

Or for that matter, HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER. That movie has grown new undertones after 9/11, a town scared by terrorizing cowboys who give carte blanche to not just an outlaw who uses his dictator power to rape, murder, and repaint the town and rename it "Hell"...but also a vengeful ghost that was a victim of the same town's people.

GRAN TORINO was a great little picture, the admirable sort that I admire for its compact dense simplicity. It really could've been a western if you think about it.

(Honestly the only really bad movie he's directed was THE ROOKIE, and that was just a flat, lazy misfire. They happen.)

Gran Torino was grand in its simple story. The bully gets his due by an unlikely hero, who really had a big heart when it came to right and wrong. One of my favs is always "The Outlaw Josey Wales".
