Nice pics Toodoped . what Crew are them 3 guys from and what did they do never seen them before ? They were involved in the shooting of South Side gambling boss Martin Quirk and also maybe in the murder of Danny Stanton, who also a South Side mob boss. Quirk and Stanton previously were Outfit associates but later tried to take over or refused to share some of the operations. My opinion is that those three guys worked for Outfit South Side gambling boss Sam Golfbag Hunt

thanks for posting Not a problem - Back then about the only people that carried cameras were the Press and the FBI. I miss meeting with him and having dinner with him as my cousin waited on us at the restaurant.

I miss meeting with him and having dinner with him as my cousin waited on us at the restaurant. was he still with Cleveland after scalish died? Tony (did the real estate)and his brother Jimmy at the Akron Sicilian Club (numbers). After Scalish - then it was Jack White and Leo "Lips". Leo was sent down to Akron on the numbers - everyone hated him. Leo was done away with... Jack White and Tony DelSanter were going to get rid of Danny Greene... Northeast Ohio is pretty fluid country Cleveland/Akron/Canton/Youngstown - then the Pittsburgh influence - others have already told you about. Don't want to muddy the thread about "Rare Photos" as the main topic.

Albert's brother Joseph Hmmm....Never knew that Albert had another brother besides "Tough Tony" What info do you know about him? Older than Albert? Made guy? When did he die? note that this part of Catanzaro province is now Vibo Valentia. all the anastasio brothers were born in Parghelia, a small fishing village directly to the north of Tropea courtesy of bill feathers = ANASTASIO-ANTONIO 1906 Catanzaro, Calabria / USA 1922. Alias – Tough Tony Relations – Umberto, Giuseppe + Gerardo [Brothers], J + A.Scotto [in-laws], A.Anastasio [Nephew]. Associates – C.Lombardozzi. J + F.DioGuardi [Lucchese], C.Bonasera + J.Oddo [Colombo]. Source – 1969 list / Dead by 1975 list. One of 4 infamous brothers from Calabria, who headed an important faction within the Family. He, and brother Giuseppe, jumped ship in NYC in 1922. First arrest for Homicide in 1925, again with Giuseppe. Unable to convict them, the authorities deported them back to Italy. They returned in 1929, and using brother Albert’s influence, found work on the Brooklyn Docks. Tony soon became a power within the ILA, and controlled several piers for the Family. To gain this position he needed to use violence, as shown by arrest’s for Assault in both 1946 and 1952. Naturalized in 1940, and believed to have an interest in a Stevedore company. With Albert becoming Boss in 1951, his position in the Family was strengthened. But in 1957 Albert was murdered and, under his successor Carlo Gambino, Tony lost prestige. He was forced out of his Union position, to be replaced by his son-in-law Anthony Scotto. Embittered, he talked to the authorities, but before he could be debriefed he died [1963]. ANASTASIO-GIUSEPPE 1905 Catanzaro, Calabria / USA 1922. Relations – Umberto, Antonio + Gerardo [Brothers], Anthony [Nephew]. His early years are closely connected to his brother Antonio. Jumped ship together in NYC in 1922. Arrested together for Homicide in 1925, and deported together. Returned together in 1929 and, using brother Alberts influence, found work on the Brooklyn Docks. However, Giuseppe [Joseph] was never as important as his brothers, continuing to work in obscurity for both the Family and the ILA until his death in1956. ANASTASIO-UMBERTO 1902 Catanzaro, Calabria / USA 1917 Alias – Albert Anastasia / Mad Hatter Relations – Antonio, Giuseppe + Gerardo [Brothers], Anthony [Nephew]. Source – 1950 FBN / 1963 Valachi charts / Numerous books. See Biography Section.

In total, there were eight brothers and one sister.
Raffaele, Francis, Albert, Anthony, Joseph, Gerardo, Louis, Salvatore, and Mary. Louis emigrated to Australia. Salvatore was a priest in the Bronx for several decades, before returning to the Tropea area in the 1960s after the death of Anthony. In terms of mafia involvement, four brothers were members -- Albert, Anthony, Joseph, Gerard. As for the two eldest brothers, Raffaele and Francis, I do not know if they ever left Calabria.
It is worth noting, however, that the 'Ndrangheta does not have deep roots in this part of Calabria. The mafia involvement is something that most likely began for the brothers upon their arrival in America, on the docks of Brooklyn

not a rare photo -- my guess is that his father was Giuseppe “Joseph” Anastasio Sunday, May 2, 2010 -- An 81-year-old Gambino soldier on the verge of heading to prison killed himself in his Brooklyn kitchen, officials said Saturday. Anthony (Todo) Anastasio pumped two bullets into his heart Friday morning, just days before he was due to start a 2-1/2-year term in federal prison on convictions for racketeering, extortion and arson. Anastasio, whose uncle was the legendary Murder Inc. boss Albert Anastasia, was supposed to surrender to authorities May 10, officials said. "It was a sudden death and his family is in mourning," said Anastasio's lawyer Paul Bergman, declining further comment. The mobster's wife found him sprawled in the kitchen of their Dyker Heights home at 7 a.m. Friday, officials said. A .22-caliber handgun, two shell casings and a suicide note written by Anastasio were found, police said. Investigators believe Anastasio killed himself rather than face jail, sources said. Anastasio was convicted in October after prosecutors played a recording of the mobster bragging about the Gambino family's illicit grip on the city's waterfront. He was found guilty of extorting a trucking company, a bakery in Brooklyn and ordering the near-fatal torching of a Dunkin' Donuts. The aged gangster could have been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison but a Brooklyn judge gave him the significantly shorter sentence after reading letters from his family, friends and golf partners. He was slated to be sent to a prison only a few hours' drive from his 82nd St. home so his family could visit. Investigators said the mobster was in good health and not battling any serious illnesses that might have prompted a suicide.

From "Labor Noir: Murders and Funerals on the Brooklyn Waterfront" -- http://transportworkers.org/node/1618Gerardo “Gerry” Anastasio was a business agent in Local 929; and Giuseppe “Joseph” Anastasio became a foreman for the JW McGrath Steamship Co.
