Thanks but that's where I saw the first episode. I immediately tried to see the 2nd, and there's a 2.50 charge (or thereabouts). I don't know why.

If you get a chance, watch the first episode, it's really quite good, if you like horror (sort of Stephen King like, at least so far). I assume FX will reair the entire season just before the new seasons starts.

No, but Pope Benedict did promise her an annulment grin.

I just saw a 2 hour special on The Biography Channel about the "Rocky" movies franchise. I highly recommend this for any "Rocky" fan out there. It has all the interesting tidbits and info regarding behind the scenes stuff that was not very public. Stallone is candid and humble and forthcoming with criticism regarding the entire 6 movie series. Very honest and refreshing I must say. BTW - the big Hollywood producers interviewed for this special all agreed that there would have never been a "Raging Bull" movie without "Rocky" and its success. Personally, I loved the last movie of the series; "Rocky Balboa". Very good movie and a perfect ending to a great franchise and character.

Bam, EVERYBODY interviewed spoke negatively of Rocky V. According to the script, Stallone and director, Rocky was supposed to die on the steps of the art museum in Adrian's arms after the street fight with Tommy Gunn. At the last minute, studio Execs called and said Rocky does NOT die. Stallone said he wrote many drafts of the last movie with Adrian alive but nothing worked. He said he decided to have the love of Rocky's life die so the audience would instantly connect with him and feel sorrow for Rock and his new lonely life. It worked.

BTW - Bam, I have never seen an interview with Mr. T regarding anything Rocky. It's kind of funny how he is never mentioned or seen in any of the movies after Rocky III. Maybe some bad blood with him and Stallone?

you might be right. i know that carl weathers wanted to reappear in 'rocky balboa'. stallone didn't agree to that, and weathers didn't want his pass clips in the movie.

Stallone had to rewrite some of the script for the original "Rocky" because he didn't have enough money, and those scenes became the greatest in the film. The ice skating scene was rewritten because he had no money for extras. The original ending had the crowd swooping in to carry Rocky out on their shoulders. I loved his anguished cries for his lady love much, much better.

I really like the First Rocky and actually liked the others although none are as good as the first one. I thought Rocky Balboa was good too. After so many sequels I had my doubts, but it was really better than I thought it would be. A good ending to the great series.

SB, I like the "yo Adrian" cries as well. He's such likeable and lovable character. smile

The ice skating scene was absolutely great. I'm glad it was rewritten. I especially liked how he apparently knew the caretaker there who let them skate a few more minutes.

I like how Carl Weathers (Apollo) demanded to read with a "real" actor after he initially auditioned with Sly. Also, Stallone's original script had the Jewish Adrian living with her overbearing mother not an Italian drunk brother, Paulie! I could never see a Jewish mother throwing a turkey out the window! Ha! Good stuff!

maybe stallone was thinking about replacing the turkey with ham?

Interesting back stories that I wasn't aware of with the Rocky film.

I like Carl Weathers, but truth is I only know him from the Rocky series. confused

See TIS, if you women knew your football (instead of Ferragamo shoes), you'd know about Carl in another venue besides Rocky.

Ha ha ha!! lol I'll pass on the football. Tomorrow my daughter & SIL are coming for New Year's dinner. I'm NOT looking forward to the "sports" sound all frickin' day. I really hate it. ( I assume there is a "bowl" game of some sort on) BUT I love him so I make an exception. wink

For anyone interested, AMC is airing the entire series of "The Walking Dead" beginning in about 5 minutes. You can see it from the start. I just caught up a couple weeks ago. It is a good series if you like that type of show.

The naming of Bill O'Brien as the probable next Penn State coach prompted me to remember Pat O'Brien of whom you never hear mentioned anymore. He was one heck of an actor and the penultimate film priest. When paired with Cagney, they were unbeatable. So many great actors; it's hard to remember them all.

One thing I hate about tv during the holidays is all the repeats and same movies over and over again. I can't wait til regular programing starts again, hopefully next week. smile

Happy New Year's, TIS! I did miss posting the marathon reminder, but I didn't miss watching it! I was at my cousins' house and they had it on there, apparently aware that I'd be talking about it regardless. lol
