Pro wrestler Booker T has racked up a prestigious, hall of fame-worthy career over the last 20 years at WCW, TNA, and WWE. He's a 6-time World champion, 15-time Tag Team champion, and former King of the Ring winner. He's fondly remembered for all that.

lol Daffy is a laugh riot. I remember a Looney Tunes cartoon with him & Porky Pig and Daffy kept asking Porky questions followed up with; "Ehhhh, fat boyyy?!?". Priceless! BTW - I would love to see the Disney artist renderings of "Dickhead Duck"! lol

You know what I miss in today's music marketplace? Something that most self-respecting folks would never mention: Novelty hit songs.

This was a #2 hit back in 1966. Ironically, what track kept this from going #1? The Monkees' "I'm a Believer."

Funny you mention novelty songs and don't know how novel you mean... lol I heard this old song by Jerry Reed yesterday (who made quite a few btw)called Amos Moses. Haven't heard it in years. He also did Spiders & Snakes and others. I think he mostly did C&W so I couldn't name any "normal" songs. lol

Remember Ahab the Arab and The Streak by Ray Stevens who also had a string of novelty (funny) hits. Or perhaps these are all before your time. wink

He also did this, which may be the greatest song ever:

Ray Stevens also wrote and performed "Everything is Beautiful," which I guess shows you can be a serious person without taking yourself seriously.

RR,

I totally forgot about that one. I could be wrong but I THINK that "Hairy The Hairy Ape" may have been Stevens first "novelty" song. Sounds strange but he DID have a string of those silly hits that always made the top 40 charts. Don't get that much anymore.

smile

Random enough, Ringo Starr's last Top 40 hit was a novelty-sounding song along with a novelty-esque music video.

I say "novelty-sounding" because the lyrics are anything but funny. George Harrison wrote/produced this track when he was having troubles with his label Warner Bros., who just rejected his current submitted album (SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND) because in dreaded industry lingo, it "wasn't commercial enough." They forced him to re-record most of the record.

Now with that knowledge in context, read some of this song's lyrics:

ALL DRIED UP, I'M ALL DRIED UP,
ALL I HAVE'S THIS EMPTY CUP,
ALL DRIED UP.

WHAT I HAVE, YOU DON'T WANT,
WHAT YOU WANT, I CAN'T GIVE.
I GOT OUT OF TOUCH WITH YOU AND YOURS,
THE WAY THAT YOU LIVE.

Here's a take off of a very old commercial. Don't know if the young people will remember the original but the older ones sure will. Heck, to me, the non-sports fan, this is what Mean Joe Green is famous for. lol

Did you know that Gary Larson, the cartoonist behind the beloved comic strip THE FAR SIDE, actually co-directed animated TV specials based off his creation?

~My favorite sketch? Nature's Symphonies. lol I'm now certain that Seth McFarlane ripped this off for his own ideas about Mr. Grim Reaper.
