Keep in mind, this is your favorites, not what you perceive to be the best. I think The Godfather is the best movie ever made, but I enjoy certain films more making them favorites. Capiche? Here we go.
1. Pulp Fiction/Fight Club [a tie, I really can't pick just one, I love them both equally] 2. Reservoir Dogs 3. GoodFellas 4. Jackie Brown 5. True Romance 6. American History X 7. Taxi Driver 8. The Godfather Trilogy 9. Kill Bill 10. Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
10-25, not ordered: The Matrix/Matrix Reloaded, Blow, From Dusk 'Till Dawn, The Boondock Saints, Raging Bull, Edward Scissorhands, Silence Of The Lambs/Red Dragon, Snatch, High Fidelity, My Cousin Vinny, Heat, The Green Mile, Scarface, Dog Day Afternoon, Rain Man and Donnie Brasco. [bleh, there's sixteen... one more, so fuck off ] Jackie Brown above GF & Scarface? that's a disgrace, Jackie Brown sucks, so overrated cuz Tarantino made it anyway 1 Scarface 2 The Godfather 3 Goodfellaz ^^ Them 3 are my clear favourites, the rest go in any order Friday Heat Taxi Driver Carlito's Way Training Day Raging Bull Pulp Fiction

And did you notice me say that this is for FAVORITES, and not for what I perceive to be the best? I can think a film is better than another, but like one more. The Godfather is the best movie of all time, but I like Pulp Fiction better. And hahahah, you say Jackie Brown sucks yet you mention Scarface? Scarface is good -- but that's over-rated.

[/b] I'd have to disagree with you there about Scarface. Compared to LOTR, Scarface is an unknown. But we all have our opinions, but I don't understand how Scarface is overrated? As for me, I said Jackie Brown was my favorite Tarintino movie because of Samuel L. Jackson & the dialogue. Plus it had a great cast (like all of his other films), but I loved Samuel L., Chris Tucker, and Robert De Niro! The movie is a little long, I'll give you that, but Samuel L. just cracks me up too much!

People say "Scarface is the best movie ever!" all the time. I hear it all the time, at least. And it's not even close to one of the all time greatest films. I have to agree with you Anthony. I think Scarface is a perfect example of a film that does not pass the test of time. After 20 years to me it seems to be gaining some what of B movie quality. In another 20 years I see it becoming more of a goof movie with a cult like following. The Soundtrack, The look & feel of the film and even Pacino's over the top performance are not aging well. I compare it to a film like "Rebel Without a Cause". Rebel in it's day was considered a great film. Watch it now it is pretty much a comedy.

The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Taxi Driver, etc... Those movies are considered "the best." Scarface doesn't rank up there for me. Sure, it's really good -- but one of the best? Not in my eyes.
People NEVER give Jackie Brown the credit it deserves... So how in the blue hell can it be over-rated? Usually when people say Scarface is the best movie of all time, they usually just mean that it's their favorite. I agree that Raging Bull, Goodfllas, etc are considered some of the best movies ever made, whereas Scarface is really a cult classic. As for Jackie Brown, I never said it was overrated. In fact, if anything it's underrated!

IrishMan -- I didn't say you said it was over-rated; I was talking to Knocc Out who said Jackie Brown "sucks" and is "over-rated." I agree it's under-rated... How can a movie be over-rated when it's never said to even be good? Jackie Brown is always over-looked by Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. Sure, PF and RD are better films, but Jackie Brown is still amazing and clever. I coudln't agree with you more about Jackie being overlooked by Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, and now Kill Bill (which was probably my favorite movie of 2003, besides X2). How about you Anthony, what was your favorite movie of 2003? What's your favorite movie so far for 2004? Mines definately 21 grams! I hope Naomi wins the Oscar and I hope Benicio wins or is even nominated, because he should be! In terms of Scarface, I again agree, it's a GREAT movie, but not the best ever made...but it's my favorite!

2003 would have to be Kill Bill, of course. My favorite director. And I think QT did a great job with a new genre. He's used to crime epics such as PF, RD and JB, and his first attempt at a ninja-esque samuri movie was excellent. Clever, witty dialogue we know QT for, excellent story-telling, super-cool characters that seem to blister off the screen... Just all around great. Of 2004? Probably Mystic River. It's made more of an impact for this year than last, with the Oscars and everything. It's a 2003 film, but as far as impact I'm putting it in my own category of 2004. I'm going to see 21 Grams this Friday. Can't wait.

among American "best off" lists you'll find all over, there a couple of films mentioned at the top so often, that it is almost (almost!!) fair to say these films ARE the best ever.
