My apologies. Most americans would pronounce it the same. This is the nickname for my husband that my mother-in-law calls him, so all I hear in my head is: "GIANNINI GIANNINI VIENI KA GIANNINI" *to be said in high pitch that you can't possibly imagine.*

I´ve seen the Italian surname Garofalo numerous times being spelled all kinds of different ways. Garafalo, Gorafola etc,etc.
I think all these variations (which I think are misspelled)stems actually from Garofalo. Or are there real italian surnames like Gorafola, Garafolo etc, etc.
Does anybody know this?

Funny you mention that, Hairy. I've seen that name spelled every which way. All I can say is, things happened at Ellis Island. In my own extended family, there are several modern spellings of the name my grandfather came here with.

Same happened with my great grandfather (my grandfather was one year old) when they arrived at Ellis Island. They changed a "C" to a "G" in the last name and that changed everything. I am told that the original last name is "Brocato" from Palermo and it was changed to "Brogato" during immigration. There is a big line of hair care/cosmetics named "Brocato"... Oh well, whatta you gonna do?

I use Brocato hair products, and I get the Brocato hair treatment every couple months! I guess this means absolutely nothing. lol

Are they good products? My wife and daughter like to use them as well... I don't know much more about them other than that. I guess they like the stuff. They are pretty fussy about that glamour stuff.

I use all the Brocato hair stuff because I get the straightening treatment, so I have to maintain it with the products. I love their products that I've used so far.

hey Skinny Vinny and Carmela, Paul Ragusa originally got around 14 years but now his realease date is in 2017 so he must of done stuff while he was locked up and that added extra time.

Carmela,Karma did get this guy in the end because it was his sisters son who actually snithched on him so he is in prison from the testimony from his own nephew.Growing up was he feared around the neighbourhood or was it that none stood up to him because people were scared of his dad?

Well, tiger, you have to figure, we were kids when he was bothering me. If I was 10, he must've been about 12. To me, he was just a bully, but I guess my parents knew about his dad, etc. I wasn't aware of any of that. But then I saw him and a few of his friends with these stupid ass jackets with some logo on the back, which I forget now what it was. But it was like his little gang he formed.

My dad is from Sicily, too, and I remember him going to talk to Paulie's dad at the bakery about him bothering me and after that, things cooled off. My dad said that Paulie's father said he was pretty sure it was because Paulie had a crush on me and it was probably normal behavior. I had a black eye at the time for fuck sake! But, also, at the time, my dad was a federal court clerk with the Southern District of NY, and had a high profile mafia case going on at the time, and I knew he didn't want to make trouble or bring attention to himself. Not sure. There was a lot I wasn't aware of at the time. But for me, Paulie was just a local bully. There was a lot of them back then, he was just worse than most. As he got older, I know he started causing a LOT of trouble and people WERE scared of him, but by then, i wasn't on his radar anymore. lol

LOL imagine once he gets out in 2017 u bump into him and he tells u he was doing all that because he liked u and while he was in prison he kept thinking about and now he wants to marry u lol
