Time to resurrect this bad boy. 9 months since the last post. We've been content? Oooops here comes Iran shutting down Hormuz. Time for all good speculators to specutlate. Down here in cheap-gas Jersey (where BAM will never go) gas is $3.39 at the Citgo - if you pay cash. It was $2.99 around Christmas. If Obama can patch this one up, his reelection is guaranteed. This morning on WPIX News, they were throwing around the idea of $5.50 per gallon by summertime for New York City .

... and even my favorite Shell station in nearby NJ is $3.97. On Kinderkamack Rd?, on the bend? I thought that was you! DUH! I'm just hoping this doesn't stall the recovery. I'm afraid that it will. We are a commuter population and we are reluctant to get out of our cars. Given recent toll hikes, it wouldn't surprise me if people were spending $100 a week to get to their jobs if they have to cross a bridge to do it. The more people have to spend to get to work, the less disposable income they have. And that s**t just rolls downhill.

I am appalled, but not surprised, that so many adult Americans expect the President to fix so much. I posted elsewhere that our Nation's oeconomy, both macro and micro, is hugely complex. Oli, I threw the Pres in there for an election year soap box item. Unless he can broker some kind of peace with Iran...we're F***d. As far as the macro and micro, the general public (and me) can even scratch the surface on understanding world economics and the intracacies that lie within. Hugely might be too small a word.....just ask the Greeks.

Can someone explain why gas in New Jersey cost $3.50 and in California its $5.00? I don't know why the difference. Maybe it's $5.00 in L.A. but I just went to get gas this morning and paid $4.21 (not that that's not bad enough). I'm sure glad I'm not working anymore cause that 60 mile round trip would really take a big hunk of my budget. TIS

Okay TIS, get ready!
By NBC News wire services
(UPATED 1:39 p.m. Eastern) RICHMOND, Calif. -- Analysts say a fire at one of the country's biggest oil refineries will contribute to higher prices at the pump on the West Coast.
The fire at the Chevron refinery in Richmond, about 10 miles northeast of San Francisco, broke out Monday evening. Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at Oil Price Information Service, says Chevron's refinery is big and important to the market. With inventories of gasoline in the region already low compared with the rest of the country, Kloza says pump prices in California and elsewhere on the West Coast will soon average more than $4 per gallon. Thanks for the good news Oli. I hadn't heard of the Richmond fire. All I can say is I am glad I am not working anymore or I'd be paying an arm & a leg with a 60 mile daily round trip. TIS

We're at $3.55. I drive approximately 350 miles per week, which is far less driving I was doing a couple years ago. Geez Kly, 350 miles? You work out of state? That's a trip to Vegas & back here. Ha ha $3.69 - to $3.76 here in my area. TIS
