It got good reviews. Decent derivative of classic 50s sci-fi scientists-gone-amok and monster movies, (and the granddaddy of them all, FRAKENSTEIN.)

EDIT - that guy from SOUND OF MUSIC wins the Oscar. Don't hurt me Chris!

I was kind of rooting for Max Van Sydow but it's nice for Plummer. He's been around forever. smile Why does he not like the association with Sound of Music though?

She was Mark 9/11 Hero Wahlberg' mother in THE FIGHTER, won the Supporting Actress Oscar from last year.

EDIT - Seeing Plummer up there, I remember that Richard Burton never won an Oscar. Now that was a crime.

Burton really was a good actor. In my sophomore year of high school our entire class went to the movie theater downtown to see him in Hamlet. Lol That memory just flashed when you mentioned Burton for some reason. smile

I would crack a joke that nobody wants to see that goddamn Big Boat movie again in theatres, especially in 3-D.

But weeks back, IMAX theatres in major cities around the globe held a special Valentine's Day screening. Advanced tickets sold out on-line within a half hour.

It's going to make pretty good money for a movie* already available on DVD. I guess alot of middle/high school girls from the late 90s want to relieve their teenhood.

I mean look at the money 3-D PHANTOM MENACE made, and about everybody hates that movie.

*=LION KING last year did $70 million plus.

When they do hit theatres in 3-D, they're going to make good money. Forget the prequels.

Best Score - I believe John Williams got nominated twice. I won't be able to compose myself when that musical god passes.

My mocking and proding aside, I'll give TITANIC this: It's the sort of production that has to be seen on the big screen. DVD does it no justice.

PHANTOM MENACE on the other hand, that new 3-D print is only good for wiping your ass with.

Everything popular (specifically very popular) gets quickly overrated, and backlash quickly forms. Fact of movie life.
