Really have got into Austrailia organized crime since coming across the Underbelly TV series. I thought i would do a cast vs real comparison for series 1.

Pretty good man. It's good for folks to see how they tried to match up the physical types. I thought you were going to do an actual series portrayal versus real events breakdown, which actually gives me a good idea for an article down the track.

It was real impressive how similar the cast looked to the real guys in series 1!

The characters in season where kind of all likable guys but we have to remember they are/where all scum bags. I especially liked the Benjamin character..

BTW where have you guys living in UK and Europe seen Underbelly? I didn't realize it was known outside Australia.

I forgot to include a few of the other characters that are briefly shown such as Paul Kallipolitis(PK), who was about the only one who didn't bear as much similarity, from what ive read PK was an older crim who was like a mentor to the likes of Benji Veniamin and Dino Dibra.

I first seen it on youtube, i had read a comment on a sopranos video about watching underbelly if you like the sopranos etc.

It always takes me ages to try new things but i finally got around to it one night pissed and just about watched the whole of series 1 in 2 days.

Anyway pointless story there lol. Wish they would release 2 & 3 on UK dvd. Underbelly Badness is series 5 and should be out soon from what i have heard. If you haven't seen the 3 movie part episodes they did they are also good, one is on the Calabrian mafia, one on the smuggler david mcmillan and the other on cop killer storyline.

Just finished watching Cedar Boys which is a movie about 3 Lebanese-Austrailians who get into drug dealing. Has a few of the actors out of the Underbelly series.

Decent watch.

I just finishesd S1. Found out about it here. I liked it.
I knew nothing about Australian crime, now a little bit more. My gf asked me while watching why on earth they castend such a babyface for that guy Williams. A quick Google search got that sorted :-). To see the rest there is also nice, so thanks.
I don't know if I 'll be watching the other seasons though, they don't really sound that interesting to me.
