"Donnie Brasco" was a very enjoyable film (though I believe the book was better because it included Tony Mirra--"a very scary guy"--and the Milwaukee interlude). But I don't believe for a minute that the Mob put a half-million-dollar pricetag on his head. The only things Mob bosses have in common are greed and distrust of each other. The Commission doesn't have a war chest or a standing army to punish their enemies--it's up to the individual families. No Mob boss would invest a dime to help rectify a problem the Bonannos got themselves into through their own stupidity.
