The great Joe Greene of the Steelers played at 275 lbs. Nobody stopped the run like Joe Greene. By the way, olivant, Jack Lambert is coming to Harrisburg for an autograph show to benefit the Big 33 Game. He doesn't do a lot of shows, so I'm going to take advantage of the opportunity and have him sign a framed and matted photo that hangs in my basement. It's the famous shot of his toothless snear through the facemask. Given today's debates over protecting the QB and applicable rules, do you remember Lambert's comments back in the 70s? He suggested that maybe QBs should start wearing skirts. He was one of a kind.

Over the years I've been able to get some of the old Steelers to sign footballs and pictures. They include Franco Harris, LC Greenwood, Jack Ham, Lynn Swann (when he was running for governor), Andy Russell and Frenchy Fuqua.

The St. Louis Rams took advantage of some of the best leverage in NFL history this week -- and Friday night confirmed that they'd finalized one of the biggest trades in league history with the Washington Redskins. It's believed that no team has ever traded three first-round picks for a draft choice in NFL history. The Redskins did all of that, plus added a second-rounder to the deal with St. Louis so Washington will be able to choose Baylor quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III in the first round of the NFL draft April 26. I've never seen as much ill will between Pennsylvania sports fans as there has been during this Flyers/Penguins series. It's getting vicious. What happened to the Pens defense? Beats me. The series has been surreal. Part of the reason for the high scoring may be the high level of emotions that has carried over from the regular season meetings between the teams. The Penguins' inability to control their emotions, in particular, has been evident. I was amazed by their explosive offensive performance tonight.

Not for nothing, and no disrespect, but Philly fans are notorious for being a--holes. At least from what I hear about Eagles fans.
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

Not for nothing, and no disrespect, but Philly fans are notorious for being a--holes. At least from what I hear about Eagles fans. What? Don't all fans pelt Santa (and Lawrence Taylor) with snow balls? Boo kids who can't find Easter eggs on egg hunts? Cheer for 10 minutes when Michael Irvin lay motionless on the turf after a neck injury? Eagles' fans certainly have been legendary in that regard although things actually calmed a bit since they banned alcohol from the parking lot, moved to the new stadium, and started taking away season tickets for minor transgressions. They sell every seat for baseball, football and hockey every night though. I'm not sure about basketball. I'm hoping the Penguins can win three more.

Notre Dame players arrested Stay classy Notre Dame, stay classy... SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees was pepper-sprayed and arrested early Thursday after he allegedly ran from away from an off-campus party and knocked the wind out of a police officer who caught up to him.
A probable cause affidavit says the 6-2, 210-pound Rees continued to resist even after being knocked down by police Officer Brandon Stec, so Stec used pepper spray and was finally able to subdue him with the help of other officers.
Police Capt. Phil Trent said linebacker Carlo Calabrese tried to talk to police, asking them why they don't like Notre Dame. Trent said Calabrese eventually grew angry and twice told officers: "My people will get you." The 19-year-old Rees was charged with one count of battery, two counts of resisting law enforcement and one count of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Police had filed a preliminary charge of felony battery on a police officer, which would have required him to stay in jail until being arraigned before a judge.
Trent said Rees registered 0.11 percent on a blood-alcohol test. Rees was released on a $250 cash bond late Thursday afternoon. Prosecutors said they were still reviewing the preliminary misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct against Calabrese and would make a charging decision on Friday. He was released on $150 bond.
"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives." Winter is Coming
Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die. As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

The Belmont Stakes is tomorrow. I'll Have Another is trying to become a triple crown winner. Anyone think it'll happen? I hope so! It hasn't happened in my lifetime and I'd like to see what that's like when a horse does win the Triple Crown.
