rip, how many are left from the show? There are three major characters still alive. Andy Griffith, Ron Howard and Jim Nabors.

I was always a fan of Goober on the andy Griffith Show. He played the same character on tv continuously from 1964-1993 on the Andy Griffith Show, Mayberry, RFD, and Hee-Haw. I don't know if another actor has done the same. i forgot the actors name, but he is on law and order svu...his character has been on other shows/channels. I'm not sure who it is, but is it close to 30 years? Frank Cady, who played general store owner, Sam Drucker, was the only actor to play the same character on three series: Green Acres, Petticoat Junction and Beverly Hillbillies (limited episodes). Frank Cady is still alive. He's about 95 years old.

I always thought Thelma Lou was cuter than Helen Krump. I agree, Klyd. Funny thing about Mayberry women: They all seemed to own their own homes. Poor Barney had a City job and lived at the YMCA. What's up with that?

I'm not sure what Thelma Lou did. She gave nude massages in the back room of the barbershop.

The other thing about Mayberry was there were no married men. No question about the sexuality of Floyd, Howard, Gomer and Goober. I always suspected Helen and Thelma Lou were beards. It's a shame, too. I heard that Howard Sprague was hung like a Tennessee walking horse.

Interesting bit of trivia: the actress who played Helen Krump (the late Aneta Corsaut) made her film debut in The Blob opposite a young Steve McQueen back in 1958. Signor V.

Vidal Sassoon, the famous hairdresser, has died at age 84 in California. Gee... Talk about a bad hair day! Signor V.

Yes, from all reports, Betty Lynn is alive and well at age 83. Frank Cady is 96. Amazing. I didn't know he was still alive until I read the earlier post here. Actually, when I first read SC's post: Vidal Sassoon, the famous hairdresser, has died at age 84 in California. ...I thought it said "...has dyed..." Yeah, yeah... I know. Totally incorrigible. Signor V.
