La Stidda (and not meant to take this thread off topic, so I apologize) is nothing more of a gang of Cosa Nostra fuckups who couldn't and wouldn't adhere to mafia rules. Today...they have pretty much all been absolved into cosa nostra families again. They're still a bunch of fuck ups, imo. Dwalin...good posting there! I wonder if that author Franco Castaldo is the same as the writer behind the online page on facebook I read everyday. Would anybody here know? He posts up to the minute and is very good. His books about the Agrigento mafia are very interesting. He send me his latest book about Falsone and Messina when I couldn't find it in any shops and didn't even charge me for it.

I tried to write the succession of provincial representatives of all the provinces represented in the mafia commission, but the sources I found state incomplete information, many dates are missing and there is very little information about the underbosses and consiglieri. Also, there is much confusion about the Catania province, as I don't understand who was Santapaola's successor as representative of the province. Different sources I found on internet and in books list his son Vincenzo, Calogero Conti and Eugenio Galea, but don't state the chronological order and the dates. Maybe somebody could provide information so I can fill the missing parts?
Palermo province
1958-1963
Salvatore Greco (died a natural death as a fugitive)
1963-1968
????
1968-1975
Gaetano Badalamenti with Stefano Bontate (underboss; murdered) Luciano Leggio (consigliere; died in prison while serving a life sentence)
1975-1978
Gaetano Badalamenti (died in prison in the USA while serving 45 years)
1978-1986
Michele Greco (died in prison while serving a life sentence)
1986-1993
Salvatore Riina (serving a life sentence)
1993-2006
Bernardo Provenzano (serving a life sentence)
2006
Ruling panel composed of:
Antonino Rotolo (serving a life sentence) Francesco Bonura (serving 23 years) Antonino Cinà (serving 16 years)
????-2008
Benedetto Capizzi (serving a life sentence; he was already serving even before he became the head of the commission, but was released under house arrest; I wonder why did they choose a chairman in such an unstable condition)
Trapani province
????-????
Andrea Fazio
????-1981
Nicola Buccellato (died in freedom a natural death; though at least one source states he was murdered; maybe they confused him with someone else)
1981-1993
Francesco Messina Denaro (died a natural death as a fugitive) with Mariano Agate (underboss; serving a life sentence) Vincenzo Virga (consigliere; serving a life sentence)
1993-present
Matteo Messina Denaro (fugitive)
Caltanissetta province
????-1978
Giuseppe Di Cristina (murdered)
1978-????
Giuseppe Nasca
????-1992
Giuseppe Madonia (serving a life sentence)
1992-1994
????
1994-????
Domenico Vaccaro (free) with Luigi Ilardo (underboss)
????-1996
Luigi Ilardo (acting boss; murdered)
1996-1998
Lorenzo Vaccaro (acting boss; murdered)
1998-2001
????
2001-2004
Angelo Schillaci (serving 4 years and 6 months, in continuation with a previous sentence of 12 years)
2004-present?
Alfredo Schillaci or Domenico Vaccaro
Catania province
????-1978
Giuseppe Calderone (chairman of the regional commission; murdered) with Calogero Conti -> Antonino Calderone (underboss)
1978-????
Salvatore Ferrera
????-1982
Giuseppe Ferrera (serving a life sentence)
1982-1993
Benedetto Santapaola (serving a life sentence) with Eugenio Galea (underboss)

Giacomo Sollami (serving a life sentence)
1985 (’86 ?)-1990

domenico 'don mimì' vaccaro is free and probably boss of caltanissetta province
vincenzo santapaola is probably the boss of catania province since 1993 although arrested several times he was always acquitted in the trials francesco la rocca, boss of caltagirone, is underboss of the province
salvatore seminara, boss of aidone family is the provincial boss of enna vincenzo militello, boss of regalbuto, is consigliere provinciale Thanks for the information. I had missed the news about Vaccaro's life sentence for the Ricottone murder being overturned. But Francesco La Rocca is now in prison, the supreme court upheld this year his and Raffaele Bevilacqua's life sentence for the Calcagno murder.

I prepared a chart of the Porto Empedocle family as it was in 1997 according to what is written in the books I have. I chose this group because it was one of the few whose (almost) complete membership I managed to find and the only one for which I have enough photos. I know, there is no consigliere but the informants Pasquale Salemi and Alfonso Falzone (the underboss) for some reason never named one to the police. The family was in disarray in the 90s though after many members were killed by the stidda. Also, I put Domenico Seddio above the other associates on the picture because he was named by Pasquale Salemi as the most powerful one. However, correct me please if I made any mistakes. ^^^ Wow, good chart. The first I've seen anyone do on this family. There is Calogero Salemi missing, as you and I have spoken about. He was Pasquale Salemi's nephew and also killed by Stidda, indirectly, in a car bomb. Giuseppe Salemi was just arrested last year, by doing business with Stidda in Operation Hardom.
Good post, Dwalin. I know there were Calogero Salemi and others, I didn't put them on the picture because they were already dead in 1997. It would be interesting to do other charts, but I don't have enough information about the structure and membership of the family before Luigi Putrone who rose to power in 1993. However, thanks for the appreciation!

There are also Caruana and [BadWord] members that should be on there.
But they are from the Siculiana family, headed in the 90s by Giuseppe Renna (probably) and Filippo Sciara. By the way, why is Cun-trera always substituted by "badword" when we try to write it?

Yes, but they were intermarried into the Salemi and Messina families and part of the family. But you're right, they were originally from Siculiana. Today, many reside in Porto Empedocle. Right, I understand about Calogero, but i see you included Giuseppe Messina, which I assume is Gerlandino's father? He was also killed in '86. Unless is a different Giuseppe? The word Cun trera gets filtered out by the board censor because of the word c unt.

I meant another Giuseppe Messina, the one who was acting boss after Gerlando, Giuseppe and Antonino were killed. He was captured in 2000. In the books they say he was Gerlandino's uncle, but he couldn't possibly be his father's brother since he was also named Giuseppe. Maybe he is the father's cousin or some other relative? I am not sure anymore which Giuseppe is on the photo. Maybe I should have checked for more information before putting him on the picture.

Giuseppe Messina on your chart that was captured in 2000, is Gerlando's brother, and Gerlandino's cousin, not his uncle. You have the correct pic there, as well.

But don't blame me, blame Calogero Capizzi with his anonymous letters to the police I just copied what was in the book. What sources of information do you have (just being curious)?

my sources are all the police reports or declarations of informats in the latest 20 years sure more accurate than an anonymous letter However, the author of the book, Franco Castaldo, is considered an expert on the mafia of that particular province, I don't think he would have included that chapter in the book if it was based only on anonymous letters. He must have had other sources. I am not putting in doubt the authority of your sources, don't take offense. I was just wondering about the contradictions between your sources and the information in the book.
