Of course not. The guy is a capo for God's sake. Who's gonna have the balls to badmouth him? But DeNiro ain't Frank Cali.

Of course there is a difference in who they marry, as opposed to who's their gf. Cali' would have never married a black woman, like DeNiro has.

And really, what do any mafioso care who DeNiro married? He's no real life gangster and in real life he's about as Italian as Chef Boyardee, so what are they hung up about?

Not rare, but this one says a lot to me. Here's Russell Bufalino presumably at his office. Seated next to him is 'Angelo Sciandra, a capo and father to Ed Sciandra. David Osticco (Underboss) is all the way to Bufalino's right, he looks to be in workman's clothes.

Next one has the same three figures. Bufalino in front, leaving court in 1959. Enjoy.

That is a rare photo. I have never seen it before.

Bufalino was quite a character. In 1977, he was convicted of extortion after threatening a guy who owed Bufalino 25.000 dollars. This guy testified against him and claimed he had been physically harmed. Bufalino did not seem to regret his actions though. He told the court: "If you had to deal with an animal like that Judge, you´d have done the same damn thing."

Right. I personally find him to be the most interesting gangster throughout history, mostly for his business model. He is the epitome of secrecy really, a 40 man family that operated as much on a national level as a local level. Who would have known? He had territory in Florida just like the 5 families and weaseled control over Buffalo towards the end of Maggaddino's reign. Here's some more.

EDIT: Cool, I'm a capo now.

You can't view this as a single image on the internet anymore, I had to take a picture of the cached image that's no longer on a website and upload it, so when it disappears it will be safe on the BB.

Maybe an idea to make this topic sticky? It deserves it imo.

Agreed! I love the rare pics. Here is one my favorites from Life Magazine Feb 14 1969 on page 56: Buster Wortman's funeral. This picture has 2 of the bosses of the St. Louis family (Vitale and Giordano) and the deceased east side boss (Wortman, part of the Chicago family) in the same picture. Throw in Louis Shoulders, one of the most corrupt cops in the history of law enforcement.

http://books.google.com/books?id=slIEAAA...p;q&f=false

Interesting tidbit - the author of this article, won the Pulitzer for a later report on the relationship between St. Louis family and the Mayor, AJ Cervantes, his Crime Commissioner and Morris Shenker, mob lawyer. The local paper would not print the article, because the editor didn't believe the story and allegations. It was later learned that the editor did not print it under pressure from the Mayor's office and that the FBI leaked the whole story to Walsh. Life published the story, and the Mayor sued them for libel. He lost his suit.

http://books.google.com/books?id=7lUEAAA...p;q&f=false

Both articles have great pics of old time St. Louis gangsters.

In case you’re wondering how prison has been treating ex-mobster Salvatore “Sammy the Bull” Gravano, here’s the most recent photo taken of the imprisoned serial killer.

The 65-year-old Gravano, who snitched out John Gotti and other fellow hoodlums, is serving a 19-year stretch for an Arizona narcotics conviction (he is scheduled for release in early-2019).

The former Gambino underboss, who is reportedly suffering from Graves’ disease, was photographed by the Arizona Department of Corrections.

The leadership of the Detroit Partnership

"This FBI photo, taken on June 11, 1979, at a game farm in Dexter shows convicted mob boss Jack Tocco (center) along with Vito Giacalone (left) and Anthony Corrado."

This surveillance photo was taken the day that Jack Tocco was appointed to replace Zerrilli as leader of the Detroit LCN. Great story providing background can be read here:

"Trunk music". The bodies of Jasper Campise and Johnny Gattuso, throats cut and stuffed in to the trunk of car. Retribution for shooting Outfit associate Ken Eto in the head (3 times) and still failing to kill him.

Left to right, partners in crime Chuckie Nicoletti and 'Milwaukee Phil' Alderisio. Chuckie Nicoletti was one of the Outfit's most prolific hitmen, and Alderisio designed them a car specifically made to conceal guns and hide from police. They were also Spilotro's accomplices during the whole head crushing vise thing.

Rare photos of Frank 'The Bomp' Bompiensero that aren't painted over like his standard photo you'll find anywhere else.

Hey I recognize where that was taken. That was Gravano's construction office on Stillwell avenue. I lived right across the street and never knew Gravano was there until I read his book.

From everything I've read, 'Milwaukee Phil' was one bad dude. I've been finding myself getting more and more interested in the Chicago stuff; those guys seemed pretty ruthless.
