If you don't know what you are talking about, keep quiet. England invented football, Americans took rugby, changed the rules and called it 'american football'. It's well documented history.
As to only the poor playing it...it's the biggest sport in the world. From rich to poor, not that this should matter.
Very nice to support you argument and specifically do a search on soccer vs. football, albeit only posting one and going back nearly 5 years before either one of us registered here.
But I'm going off this map smartass, which details how Commonwealth Nations who still call it soccer:
In the States, only kids who couldn't succeed in football play rugby out here, it's almost as douchey as lacrosse.
Soccer is also great for the poor as all you need is a ball. Though that does not entirely clear up the argument of soccer being a sport for immigrants those un-Americanized
