Your government witness is walking the streets without fear for his safety and you want all this security for your jury? That just doesn't add up. Maybe the Feds urged him to do this and relayed the information to GA, to challenge any alleged LCN Members to take a shot at him then cooperate. You think the mob would recruit someone that is really sick and does not have that much time to live to just shoot Lou in his stupid face, then they die in jail a year or two later or get taken out by an agent.

Who would want to spend their dieing years in prison? If it were me, I'd go with murder and make it look like a suicide.

If I'm Uncle Joe, I have all my guys take a blanket plea. Eat the 6 years (or whatever) and have most of the group in question paroled and rebuilding the Brunos by 2016, make Bent Finger Lou feel like an idiot for giving it all up, and spend your golden years knowing you were one of the most successful (risk & reward/ beating the odds of a boss) Caporegime in recent history. Move down the shore after you get out, semi-retire and let Staino be street boss and Tony Soprano things for ya.
