Not sure how, but we dodged the weekend storm. Most of the state was hard hit, but we were lucky and have had no power outages. Finally getting some much needed rain today.

Roads are buckling, buildings are falling down and trains are falling through over passes due to the extreme heat here in Chicagoland. Every mishap is being blamed on the 100+ degree temps. Even the Cubs losing is being blamed on the excessive heat and they have been playing out of town!

It's expected to hit 100 degrees today. This morning I stopped by my office and a work crew was sealing our parking lot. I mentioned that they were smart to get this done while the temperature was still in the 80s. They said they have two more jobs this afternoon. It's not the best day to be spreading hot tar.

I've been enjoying this unseasonably cool weather on the left coast. You guys on the East Coast have been having some crazy hot weather. Today I don't even think it reached 80 degrees here. Climate change, anybody?

Bad thunderstorm a couple hours ago knocked power out for about an hour. Then the sun was out. Now here's another storm.... ohwell


I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

That's the story of today. We had 2 inches of rain within an hour this morning. There was literally a river of water running down the width of my street (between the curbs) for awhile.

You've had four inches of rain so far and more to come.

You gonna buy a snowblower this year? (seems you live in the jackpot area lately).

Wow, all you guys have really had super HOT weather. uhwhat

I worry cause we STILL haven't had the triple digits. Today it was in the mid 80's and perfect IMHO. However, we still have August and September in CA is pretty much still summer. I'll be totally shocked if we skate by w/o 100plus temps.

Here in SoCal we finally hit the triple digits this week. It's going to be 102 today and has been around 101 all week. However, if forecast is correct we'll cool down into the 90's next week. smile

Add a 4.5 earthquake (with something like 32 aftershocks) a couple days ago and we are "shaking/baking". lol

We've cooled down to the mid 80s. For the first 7 months, The state of NJ has set a new state record for average degrees. They started keeping records in 1895. Global Warming...I'm melting said the polar ice cap.

We had two tornadoes touch down about 20 miles east of me. We've been having more and more severe weather in the past ten years or so, including bigger snowstorms (five of the City's biggest snowstorms have occurred in the past ten years). This IS the result of global warming!
