I think it's fascinating how despite the massive flack NBC got for tape-delaying the sporting events for prime time TV, the ratings were insanely successful overall in spite of the fact that many people may've already known the results.

I'll chalk it up to the storylines. Usain Bolt proving he is indeed the world's fastest man (he should play Flash in the new JUSTICE LEAGUE movie), Michael Phelps becoming the greatest Olympian in history, Team USA's "Dream Team" rolling their way to gold, the gymnastics and track/field and everything else.
