Of course there is a difference in who they marry, as opposed to who's their gf. Cali' would have never married a black woman, like DeNiro has.
And really, what do any mafioso care who DeNiro married? He's no real life gangster and in real life he's about as Italian as Chef Boyardee, so what are they hung up about? Carmela(one -L?). Reading some of your posts reminds me why as a young man we called the women in the neighborhood -- Barracudas.

Francis Turatello Born in Asiago, the son of an unmarried seamstress living at Milan and returned to his hometown during the war, according to many sources was the natural son of Italian-American mob boss Frank Coppola said Frank three fingers. He moved with his mother in Milan (Lambrate district) since childhood, amateur boxer in his youth, makes its appearance in the criminal Milan as a small car thief, and then move gradually to impose his personality, taking on roles of increasing leading up to reach the head of a criminal gang (consisting mostly of immigrants from Catania) addict to the control of the gambling dens of the city and the exploitation of prostitution (activity in the period of greatest success invoice tens of millions of lire a night ). He also participates in several robberies and kidnappings, with the complicity of boss of the Banda dei Marsigliesi Albert Bergamelli.Turatello is famous for the fierce rivalry, born from his youth, with Renato Vallanzasca, which results in a bloody feud with the many victims of both fronts. Later, after the arrest of both Vallanzasca and Turatello takes place a gradual rapprochement between the two friends shake that (among other Turatello will witness the wedding of Vallanzasca in marriage with Giuliana Brusa held in prison). There is still debate today on the position within Cosa Nostra of Turatello, but it is believed that during his criminal career was often in contact with senior members of the Neapolitan Camorra clans and families in Sicily. The figure of Turatello also appears in many dark episodes in the history of Italy of the seventies, including the kidnapping and murder of Aldo Moro and some criminal acts done by the Magliana Gang. After a lengthy fugitive was arrested April 2 1977 in fairly random Cordusio Square in Milan, tried for a long list of offenses is sentenced to a lengthy prison who is serving under the regime of rigorous imprisonment. Turatello was killed August 17, 1981 in prison in Sardinia Badu'e Carros by Pasquale Barra, Vincenzo Andraous, Antonino Faro, Adriano Danilo and Salvatore Maltese in a very brutal: will be stabbed and disemboweled, and his heart checked out and bitten. The motive for this murder is still mysterious, but certainly an end so terrible - and the consequent destruction of the body - revealing that he had committed an offense very great. Some sources date back to the New Organized Camorra order the murder, but there still remain reliable sources. Francis is buried at Turatello Monumental Monza. In case you’re wondering how prison has been treating ex-mobster Salvatore “Sammy the Bull” Gravano, here’s the most recent photo taken of the imprisoned serial killer. The 65-year-old Gravano, who snitched out John Gotti and other fellow hoodlums, is serving a 19-year stretch for an Arizona narcotics conviction (he is scheduled for release in early-2019). The former Gambino underboss, who is reportedly suffering from Graves’ disease, was photographed by the Arizona Department of Corrections. Sammy Gravano and John Gotti broke the golden rule of organization. Vincent Gigante (the last of the old schoolers) wanted them to pay. They've both payed. Why these men of little honor are worshiped is beyond me. I guess hype and media attention mask over deceit and dishonor.

Good Find man. I've heard a lot about this guy in books about gotti since the bergin crew whacked him. I heard this guy was a real psycho lol The only picture i've seen of him was in the crime charts in the 60's during the valachi hearing
The picture was found in the "New York Police Files On The Mafia"-book by Charlie Carr which is a collection of New York´s five Families files, arrest records and mugshots from the 1940s and 1950s. According to his rapsheet, Plate was arrested numerous of times for robbery and in 1937 was sentenced to a 5-10 year prison term. He also had arrests for felonious assault and "frequenting house of ill fame" and "frequenting gaming house". Good info i'll check that out. I wonder if there are any mugshots from 1979 when him and neil were arrested for Charles Calise's murder

I too have seen it spelled both ways Carm, but I do believe the way you spelled it "Salemme" is the proper way.. ;-)
