That mugshot is from 1928.

BTW, what has happened to this thread? Do I have to buy myself a 80 inch screen in order to read the posts properly?
Is it just my computer or does anyone else encounter the same problem?

Just a couple of sidenotes...
The man enjoying a tomato soup is not Dutch Schultz, but one of his men. Schultz enjoyed the restaraunt´s bathroom when being shot. He died a couple of days later.

Schultz´s lawyer, Richard "Dixie" Davis, is most probably responsible for the myth of the purge, claiming more than 30 old mustache petes were knocked out across the country the day Maranzano was killed. This number snowballed later into 50 and more by newspapermen and authors, apparently because they had nothing better to write about.
Dixie claimed he had learned about the purge from one of Schultz´s gunmen Bo Weinberg.

Yeah. Louis Russo was murdered in NJ the same day as Maranzano, James LaPore in Bronx, and a Philly mobster, Siragusa was killed two weeks after the Maranzano killing. I think there was a fifth too, but his name slips my mind right now.
