Sounds like you're enjoying yourself MM. Zia would be the expert on the colleges but I have heard good things about both, especially UCLA. Good luck making your decision. A few posts back both Zia and I listed some suggestions. Since tomorrow is your last day, don't know how much you want to cram in one day. Have you been to the ocean yet? A little cool for swimming but nice to talk a walk and maybe see some surfers (if that interests you), grab a bite to eat and have a relaxing time. Anyway, again, good luck in choosing your college no matter where you end up. Keep us posted. TIS

Venice truly is one of the coolest places ever. Was it crowded today? Did you happen to walk around off the boardwalk, in the inside residential streets? That's really cool, because they all have little canals going through them, and gorgeous little bridges and stuff. It looks like a completely different world than the Boardwalk. The guy who built Venice Beach back in the late 1800's (Abbott Kinney) modeled it almost exactly after the real Venice, which is why the architecture is so Venetian (minus all the crazy murals and graffiti ). But what a lot of people (even people who live in L.A.) don't know is that there really are canals, too. Anyway, good luck, I hope your folks let you move out here!

I'm ecstatic! I bought two Maynard Ferguson CDs today at a half-price bookstore. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.gangsterbb.net/emoticons/cheering.gif) My mom took me there because I've been listening to Maynard a lot, and I'd been wanting to get at least something of his. When we first got there and started looking around, I didn't see anything by him, and I was getting pretty negative about it - finally, I came across a record album of his, then the same thing on CD, and finally, two other CDs! I settled on these two: This is apparently one of his (if not the) newest. I hadn't heard any of the songs on it, yet, so it's cool to have all new ones to listen to. I read a review on this that said it would become somewhat "obsolete" if other certain CDs came out which would have the same songs, but I'm not worried. It's just so great to have these two. I love that name for him, too. "Master of the Stratosphere."

Differences between the articles of confederation and the constitutution of the United States were many yet they can be summarized as this: The Articles of Confederations did not allow for the centralized fedral governemnt to have a strong base of power in fear of another monoarchy or dictatorship to form, while the constitution empowered and gave many of the most important powers to the national governement. First of all, the articles of confederation did not give the federal government to levy taxes, a big mistake in my opinion. It allowed only the state govements to levy taxes, creating chaos and also causing trobules for the nation when we needed to pay back forgein debts owed to our allies following the revolution. It also allows for great inflation while we have over seventeen pices of currency being circulated trough out the infant republic, while of course the constitution allows for the governement of the nation to be the only body to levy taxes. The articles of confederation also sets up a congress set up of two house, both of which have an equal amount of delegates per state, the number being two. Of course, with the creation of the constitution and the Great compromise came the two houses of congress, one following the idea listed above while the second house of congress would have an amount of mebers decided mainly by the amount of the states population. The Constitution however does set upon itself some checks and balnces not forseen for the articles of confederation to challenge the fear of perhaps one executive taking power of the nation.
