Why is there this assumption that because there are no parentheses to begin with, that parentheses can't be added. The parentheses are added into the problem to mark which part of the problem you are supposed to answer first (according to the Order of Operations...don't know if that is something you are familiar with...)

And I wouldn't be laughing, considering you can't even come up with the right answer.
