Probably the greatest consigliere in American mafia history, served as consigliere under three separate regimes (Ricca, Giancana, Aiuppa). Joe Batters may have held the title of consigliere, but he was subservient to Ricca only. He held the real power when Giancana and Auippa were boss. Accardo had the final word on key decisions with those two, and that is beyond debate.

Lol just no. He was a lifetime consigliere. Consiglieres never hold top power, obviously. Ricca, Giancana, & Aiuppa were top bosses, JB was not. These are just facts. Just look at the family secrets photo, Obrien is seated at the head of the table.
Put down the roemer books I suppose we will have to agree to disagree.

Agreed, when Ricca went to jail Accardo took over that family with Ricca in the background as a "consultant" and boss in name only, when accardo became consig in 57 the boss position was really a "front boss" (think salerno and chin) until the early 90s with all major decision decided by ricca and accardo i rank accardo right up there with carlo gambino

Lol that's just simply not true. Carlo Gambino? You're out of your mind, Ricca is the only one that could be mentioned in that breath, possibly Aiuppa. Giancana was more powerful than any of them, but obviously the lack of longevity hurts his claim.
I honestly don't know where you people get this crap from. Im assuming books written by bogus sources (Bill Roemer) & poorly produced television programs like 'Mobsters'? The boss position was really a front boss until the early 90s? Come on now, that's just talking out of your butt, no offense.
Joe Batters was never the boss of the Chicago Outfit. The Chicago outfit didn´t have the consigliere position in the way, for example, the NY Families had/have it. Tony Accardo was the boss of the outfit replacing Ricca in the 1940s. I have posted FBI documents saying so in earlier threads when Bridgeportvet (or whatever his name was) harried on here some time ago. When Giancana was made boss, Accardo and Ricca stepped aside but remained as advisors, not consiglieres (the no three position normally seen with the NY Families). Ricca and Accardo sat with the ultimate power and most of the heavier desicions went through them. This was necessary because Giancana turned out to be a horrible boss. They remained in this position also after Giancana was expelled probably because they found their positions, sitting in the background, suitable to them. And who can blame them? I, and others as well, asked Bridgeportvet numerous of times where he got his information from. He never told us and kept mumbeling about him being on the streets of Chicago and therefore knew better than anybody else, that is, all posters, mob watchers, researchers, crime historians, FBI, LE etc. So I´m asking you, Ricobenes, where do you get your info from from?

No, just no, on all accounts. The Outfit most certainly had consigliere position, the most notable was Tony Accardo.
Tony Accardo wasn't fit to sniff Giancana's butt crack, let alone be mentioned in the same sentence as fucking Paulie Ricca or Joey Obrien. Giancana was the most successful boss the Outfit ever had in terms of garnering power & gathering men. He established a proper heroin connection for the Outfit, completely constricted the unions, and most of all put Pat Marcy & the Rotis in power of the 1st ward. he happened to become boss during a devastating time, when surveillance was evolving at the speed of light & indictments were being handed down like it was going out of style.
Tony Accardo was a great mind, no doubt, and his longevity is pretty staggering, but he was a flip flopper that worked with feds and went with whomever was popular at the time. he never ran a crew or gave the decision on anything. He was a consigliere, a top advisor and a mediator.
One of the reasons people are misinformed are obviously the feds bogus information, but also due to Roemer himself talking up accardo because JB was the only one out of the upper echelon guys that treated him civilly. Giancana made it known on many different occasions that he would murder and possibly torture roemer without any hesitation if he was alone with him.
Anyways, all that is poppycock regardless. JB was never a top boss, end of story

Hook LaPietra was my dad, happy? Hahahahaha Then I have some questions I want you to answer. I´m curious. - In the late 1970s, what was the address Hook Lapietra lived on? - What was the name of the special club Lapietra founded in the 1990s and what was his role? - How many sons and daughters did Lapietra have? - What was Lapietra´s father´s first name?

-the mansion's at 30th & Princeton -he didn't found the old neighbourhood club in the 90s, it began as a storefront on 26th st in 1981, and moved again to a slightly larger storefront. He built the new, massive one after he was released from Leavenworth with his share of the Vegas skim profits. He was the owner. I should know, we were members there growing up -dunno don't care, his one daughter is or was married to Kurt Calabrese -dunno don't care And he's not my father :-)

What Ricobenes' is saying jibes with the most in the know people I've ever spoken to about the Chicago mob.
The academic/outsiders always peg Accardo as the big mastermind boss, but the people who have street knowledge--and by that I mean basically were related to a member of the mob--say he was really just an overseer and uninolved.
They also are all largely enamored, as seen here, with the psychopath Mooney Giancana.
Well, it depends on what time frame you are talking about. Was Accardo just an overseer and uninvolved when he was in his 70s and 80s? Yeah, I think so too. Was he just an overseer and uninvolved in the 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s? Absolutely not. Together with Ricca, he was the one who appointed bosses (Giancana, Alderisio, Aiuppa). This is documented. No one is going to take Ricobenes seriously if he keeps on telling outright lies. First he was the son of Lapietra. Then he was not. Now he´s the nephew of Infelice and whatnot. Who´s going to believe him? Why post a bunch of crap on here and expect he can get away with it? I want to regard this forum seriously and with respect. He should do the same.

I'm not one of those from Anp (I'm assuming you're referring to the don & black angelo from those boards, who obviously had incredible amounts of outfit knowledge). I joked about my family relations due to the fact that this guy kept pressuring me, thinking I was going to openly say something like "oh I'm Joe batters grandkid" or "I'm cerones nephew" or something like that, which I would obviously never ever do. I am related to alleged gangsters, but that isn't important.
Everyone in Chicago is a "fanboy" of mooney giancana, not just the dickheads over at anp. he was the most beloved boss the outfit ever knew. To this day when his name comes up an outfit gangster will shed a tear & tip their hat to the man. He was a legend, fearless, had balls the size of cantelopes, and he'd get out there and fight for his men. Joe batters was known to the street gangster as some crotchety old man who owned a mansion and had no connection whatsoever to the street.
But I digress, like I said, one need only to look at the family secrets dinner photo at the Sicily to see AIUPPA at the head of the table, where the boss sits, with accardo in the consigliere spot to the right of him. It's not rocket science guys

I choose to accept the information advanced by the FBI, legal documents, public testimony, informants, and so forth, rather than an anonymous internet poster who claims to have some relations, then others.
The FBI had the Outfit wired and bugged (Little Al, Shade, Plumb). They heard discussions that the Outfit thought were private and confidential. The FBI, and Roemer, had no reason or agenda to assert anything other than the truth about leadership positions.
As noted above, the Outfit did not (and does not) follow the traditional hierarchy of the NY families. Giancana and Auippa were front bosses, in the NY sense.
Best way to catch the smart ones? Get an idiot working for them.

The fbi, lol, right, the same org that legitimately thought that fucking Lumpy Lombardo was the head of the Chicago Outfit? Roemer most certainly had an agenda, he hated mooney. This was well known. Accardo was never anything above consigliere & front boss, end of story lol.
