I was watching tv, and realised about the amount of adverts (especially in UK) you get of quick loans with the small writing at bottom saying 3000% etc Which could be seen as Loansharking. So what are your opinions about these businesses? Should the Governments protect people from going to these companies for money?

Some of these credit people are just like the mob in terms of their vig haha, however they don't (usually) break your legs when you fall behind the payments. They just send repo men to your house to clean you out.

Some states have "payday loan" businesses that charge more interest than any Mafia loanshark. They're legal, too. If you were a Mob guy, why would you want to do loansharking when you could open up a "legitimate" payday loan business--and make more vig?

In a way you would rather get a few cracks then assets being taken away

My old housemate from the states is facing repo men from Blockbuster, LMAO over overdue movie fines, we keep getting threatening letters to the door. He's back in the states though so they can't do anything.

I know sum1that got a letter from bbnt cus they were a month behind on the loan for there car so they took it backpack instead of deals with the bs and there trying to make them pay the amount owed me even tho they no longer have the car.keep in mind ur only sposed to pay the amount they didn't sell it for. So if u owed 2grandme n they sell it for 17a u owe 300 not 2grand

In Las Vegas, There is a Company called Dollar Loan. They have about 2 Dozen Outlets there. They also have Outlets in California , Utah, & South Dakota. The day to day boss is a guy named Chuck Brennan. He's originally from South Dakota. It is legal Loan Sharking.
Brennan has many investors who he guarantees at least 10% interest per year. He loans the money out legally for a much higher percentage. There are about 4 or 5 Italian Guys from Chicago who are his 'Partners' and are behind the scenes.
