Hubris. I may have told this story here once. One of my best friends was Director of the Military Reserves in the Pentagon, and he would have to travel around the world. He was leaving South Korea and had to take a connecting flight in Tokyo. As he was reboarding in Japan, he was stopped by an airline official, who told him that he could not get on the plane with the expensive bottles of Scotch he picked up in Seoul. My friend was telling him it was ridiculous as he carried it on board for his first flight. The worker still refused and told him to leave the booze with him. Just then a general, overhearing the exchange, moved up in line, got in the worker's face and said, "Son, either the sgt. major is walking on that plane with these bottles in his hands, or you're going home tonight with them shoved up your ass!" He came home with the scotch.

I read an article earlier in which Broadwell's father insisted this story is about something totally different and that the truth will come out and that this is a smokescreen. He "said" he had to stay quiet per his lawyers. And the plot thickens. " Like the sand in an hourglass, these our the days of our lives."

From Onion. Nation Horrified To Learn About War In Afghanistan While Reading Up On Petraeus Sex Scandal
WASHINGTON—As they scoured the Internet for more juicy details about former CIA director David Petraeus’ affair with biographer Paula Broadwell, Americans were reportedly horrified today upon learning that a protracted, bloody war involving U.S. forces is currently raging in the nation of Afghanistan. “Oh my God, this is terrible,” Allie Lipscomb, 29, said after accidentally stumbling on an article about the war while she tried to ascertain details about what specific sexual acts Petraeus and Broadwell might have engaged in. “According to this, 2,000 American troops have died, 18,000 have been wounded, and more than 20,000 civilians have been killed. Jesus Christ. And it’s been happening for, like, 11 years.” Sources confirmed that after reading a few paragraphs about the brutal war, the nation quickly became distracted by a headline about Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash’s alleged sexual abuse of a 16-year-old boy.

And what is really the deal with Kelley? Her reported role as a military volunteer is a euphemism for something far more nefarious. What command did she have over the two generals and the FBI agent investigating the matter. She got them to stand at attention. The news of her insurmountable debt is all over the place this morning. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that she leaked this story with plans of selling a tell-all to get out of debt. You can't tell me she was seriously afraid of Broadwell going all Glenn Close to her Ann Archer.

JL, I only saw this mentioned & referred to. This is the first I saw a video. I assume you are referring to the book title? How did that happen? TIS

We can joke all we want about the General's Privates standing at attention for inspection (and we will), but I really feel sorry for Petraeus's wife of 37 years. Something like this is devastating enough for a person to bear when the people involved are not public figures. This must be at least a thousand times worse. She can always run for Senate.

A run for public office would be considered much more politically and socially acceptable than going after the General with a pair of garden shears. Signor V.
