I posted this on the WD thread but thought I'd post here too. Boy the Long Island people are really "out there" aren't they? Some guy shoots his GF because she didn't think a Zombie world (aka Walking Dead) was possible. TIS A Monday argument over the cable television show The Walking Dead ended with a Long Island man firing a bullet into the back of his girlfriend because she would not take the possibility of a real zombie attack seriously.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Nassau County police Detective Lt. Raymond Cote said that 26-year-old Jared Gurman had shot his girlfriend, Jessica Gelderman, with a .22-caliber rifle resulting in a pierced lung, shattered rib and pierced diaphragm, according to WNBC.
“He feels strongly about the possibility that some military mishap could occur causing some tragic consequence,” Cote explained. Raw Story ( http://s.tt/1vZlO)

I call on all you New Yorkers to be on the lookout for my younger son this weekend. I hope they have a good time! Not sure how old they are, but it's a great place to explore at (almost) any age. I assume they're not NYC newbs, tho, right?
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

I assume they're not NYC newbs, tho, right? My boy is 17 and his buddy just turned 18. They've both been to NYC several times, but this is the first time with three days of independence. They're meeting his buddy's mom for dinner tonight. They'll undoubtedly have a great time this weekend. I'll text him periodically to make sure he's okay (he last let me know they were hanging out in Times Square). I wasn't crazy about him missing two days of school, but he's doing well in class, working 20-24 hours a week, and keeping up with baseball training, so my wife and I felt the little bastard deserved this trip.

Kly, I am sure they'll have a great time. There is so much to see/do and so many places to eat with great food. Plus, what a feeling of independence in the big city. He sounds like a great/smart kid. I'm sure he'll be fine. I LOVE NYC. TIS

He's got a good head on his shoulders, but really loves a good time. His buddy is the same way.
I should add as a sidenote that my son's senior class did their voting for class night awards, and they voted him as "Best Eyes." His brother won this two years ago too. It isn't exactly "most likely to succeed, but we'll take what we get. Well, that's nice. But the question is, does he take after his mother or his father eh?? TIS

TIS The good head on his shoulders is from mom, who has striking green eyes. My eyes, like those of my kids, are blue, but I've never won anything for mine, so I'll give my bride the credit.

Kly, my wife's eyes are green just as are those of one of my daughters. I could stare into them all day. Ahh, you too are blessed, oli. Is she a Pittsburgh girl? No. From Mississippi originally, but was raised in Texas.

My wife and 3 oldest offspring all have brown eyes. The youngest, my little devil Matty has blue eyes like his old man. I have no idea of the significance of all this...i am just glad we all have eyes that work properly Like you, Yogi, I too am among the 8% of the global population sporting baby blues. Scientists theorize that all of us with blue eyes have descended from a single person, who lived 10,000 years ago near the Black Sea. This person was the first to exhibit the genetic mutation that resulted in blue eyes. This gene doesn't create blue eyes, but blocks or disables the gene which made all of humanity's eyes brown prior to the arrival of our old friend from the Black Sea, who must have been regarded as a freak. Scientists have an idea when and how blue eyes came into the world, but there are different thories as to why. Some argue that the European climate has been responsible for the deviation of physical characteristics, (eyes, hair color, skin color), which is unique to those, who've descended from early Europeans. Others feel the genetic mutations represent evolution's way of of creating distinguishing physical attributes through mutation for mating and procreation. Features such as blonde or red hair, fair skin and blue eyes emerged as a way to create sexual attraction within the species. So you and Matty should walk with a lot of pride, Yogi.

When my oldest was born, the nurses used to double-check our bracelets to make sure that they hadn't brought me the wrong baby. I'm quite dark, dark hair (well, before it went white), brown eyes, olive skin. My daughter was blonde and blue-eyed. I thought they would change, but she's such a mutt that she stayed fair, although her hair eventually darkened when she was about 12 or 13. My other daughter got the brown hair and brown eyes.
My mother and I are dark, but my dad was lighter with green eyes. My husband is a big redhead with green eyes, but his dad was dark with green eyes. My MIL is the whitest person I know, with light brown hair and blue eyes. It was genetic bingo!

I come from a totally brown eyed Italian family (both sides). Of course today, with my generation and after, marrying someone other than Italian, I know there are some blue or green eyed relatives. However, back in my parents day, if any kid was born with blue or green eyes, I think they'd blame the milkman and there w/b hell to pay. TIS
