How many times do you think about females in the organization? What would think if one day the daughter was really the one running things? How many times have you often wondered about a Boss who had no son or who had a daughter or granddaughter that kept the highest quality of secrets and had more knowledge and very well respected by several groups? Given the modern day underworld mixed with the original code?

From what ive read it seems that with all the men in prison they have to put someone experienced in charge.so the persons who have the required experience and are bound to the omerta are sometimes women.not that there are whole clans with only women, but im sure.that the cosa nostra also had some females in charge. there are few books about that subject in english. if you ar interested i could upload this book. http://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-0-387-36542-8/page/1

10 Unfuhgeddable Facts About Women in the Mafia written by Cristen Conger on Howstuffworks.com...
1.The traditional role women play in the Camorra crime family involved housecleaning, cooking — and cutting up cocaine and heroin for distribution. 2.In 1983, a Palermo court ruled that women didn’t have the brains to get involved with mafia business. Twelve years later, the government would indict 89 women for mafia-related crimes, and in 2000, police arrested 100 mob ladies. 3.Arrested in 2001, Camorra godmother Maria Licciardi plays such a powerful role in mob activity, she’s was considered one of Italy’s Top 30 Most-Wanted criminals and was eventually taken to the country’s toughest prison. 4.Rival Neopolitan godmother Erminia Giuliano (nicknamed ‘Heavenly’) also earned a spot on that Most-Wanted list, although police caught her before Licciardi. 5.History’s most famous mafia woman is Assunta Maresca, called La Pupetta, or Little Doll. In 1955, the pregnant Pupetta gunned down her husband’s murderer and bore her child in prison. 6.The body of La Pupetta’s victim, Tony Esposito, was riddled with 29 bullet holes. 7.Unlike Camorra family in Naples, the Cosa Nostra crime family is much more restrictive toward women due to Sicilian regard for maintaining traditional gender roles. 8.Though often married, mafia men take on mistresses “because it reinforces his strength (via Associated Press).” 9.In 2002, high-ranking women in the Graziano and Cava crime families broke out into a deadly shootout after trading insults at a local hair salon. 10.Women are becoming more active in American mob families as well. In 2010, an FBI sweep of the Gambino syndicate in New York included one female defendant. FBI agent Richard Kolko told CNN: “It’s extremely rare to grab up a woman in an organized crime case because it’s a male-oriented criminal society.”

So not alot of women get swept up in those "mafia association" laws they have over there? Not that i follow things too closely over there but that seems like a pretty vague law, that if they really wanted to squeeze a mobster they could charge his wife with. Not really. The govt really doesn't have anything to indict them with. Nothing concrete anyway. Not that it matters in Italy. The way their constitution is set up, it's guilty until proven innocent. But just being married or a family member and having contact even with a fugitive doesn't mean you'll be arrested. The girl I mentioned several posts up, was the sister of a cousin of mine and she had her baby and far as I know, she hasn't been indicted. They just seized her bank accounts, driver's license, passport (so she couldn't flee), etc. They knew she had something to do with running envelopes, etc, in her brother's absence but I guess nothing they thought could be proven. And it's not like here. They couldn't get anywhere threatening to charge a wife. A woman there would never allow it. She'd go to jail or lay down and take a bullet for her husband or son.
