Beth, I had a somewhat similar experience a couple years ago. It was Christmas Eve and I was driving home from a last minute stop a the grocery store. I pull down my street, which is in a somewhat suburban area, but certainly not country. Anyway, I see a big ol' white pot belly pig crossing in front of me oinking away. I had the same reaction as you as disbelief. A few houses down there was another pig walking across my neighbors lawn. I pulled up my driveway and a few neighbors came out, all of us in disbelief. No sooner were we all gawking at these fat little porkers, did animal control stop by. What a riot watching them try to grab a hold of these pigs. I found out shortly afterward, that they were actually pet pigs of someone around the corner. Can you imagine??? I am only guessing that in my area it's illegal to have pigs for pets, and don't know what animal control did to handle it after that. Since it was Christmas Eve, I was wondering if perhaps it was someone's holiday dinner. TIS

Happy birthday svsg! I don't even care to talk politics today. It's been like that for a while now. I just sit back and laugh reading some comments. Yesterday I was almost tempted to start a thread about bras. But then I passed on it. But seriously, why women wear bras? I can understand the necessity of bikini, but bra as underwear? I think my values are shifting downhill.

Happy birthday, svsg and DA!! I also have a question for you, svsg: can you tell me what these Hindi words mean? -dil -ajnabee -bahane -kaho -hum -hai I'm learning it slowly, after about a year and a half of watching like 4 Hindi films per week. I already know aur, pyaar, kuch, nehi, chalo, ek, and a few others. I'm thinking this summer to actually learn the language, to be able to speak it. I don't have anyone to practice it with though, so I don't know if I will. My Indian friends don't speak Hindi, only their parents do.

Great to know you are trying to learn an Indian language. BTW Hindi is the Indian national language, but people speak dozens of totally different languages in each state. Now for the meanings.... -dil (heart) -ajnabee (stranger) -bahane 1)Excuses - Eg - Bahane mat banao (don't make excuses) 2)In the pretext of - Eg - usko milne ke bahane... (in the pretext of meeting him/her....) -kaho ("you tell" or "say" as in "you tell me" or "say something") -hum(we) -hai(the verb "is")

-kaho ("you tell" or "say" as in "you tell me" or "say something") -hum(we) -hai(the verb "is") Cool, that's what I was assuming for dil and ajnabee, from contexts of where I've seen/heard them. As for the rest, I had no idea. Thanks! And yeah, when I'm in school, I watch more like 2 or 3 per week, but now that I'm off for summer, I have more time for 3-hour movies. But ever since my "thing" with Hindi films, I've noticed I'm hardly ever interested in Hollywood movies anymore. Except the older ones, all of which I've already seen. That was one of the reasons why I started watching "Bollywood" anyway... I ran out of other movies to watch and decided to move on to another country altogether. And then I got addicted... Thanks, Gi!
