There is a contradictory part in the Paulie killing scene. Before the killing Clemenza tells Rocco:
"They can never trace it. Leave it in the car with Paulie."

Later when Paulie is dead, we read:
"Rocco Lampone scrambled out of the back seat. He still held the gun and he threw it into the swamp."


Rocco's disobedience or Puzo's sloppy writing?
