Anyone have strong thoughts on whether DeMeo/ Soprano Crime Family is supposed to be DeCavalcante's or NJ Luccheses? I've heard good arguments for either.
The biggest arguments for me are-
NJ Lucchese Crew:
- Semi independent of Luccheses in NYC, similar to how Tony and Lupertazzi/ Sacrimoni are. Tony does ALOT of dealings with only the Lupertazzi family. We never see him working with other fictional NY families but extensively with Lupertazzi's.
DeCavalcante:
- Tony is referred to as a "boss", I believe the highest guy in NJ Lucchese's would be a Captain.
-Their base of operations is Elizabeth, much like the DeCavalcante Family.

Just read in another topic Tony's reference to a real life boss (Profaci). Offhand, other than Gotti Sr., I don't recall any other reference to a real life mafioso, past or present. There must have been loads, huh? You guys recall any? Paulie makes a reference to the Colombo war saying he survived by the skin of his teeth, i think there was reference to Carlo Gambino too. I believe it was 'by the skin of his nuts" to be exact  .
