I actually thought it looked good too, the only problem i had with it was the fact that i don't really like Gerard Butler even though that he's Scottish and supports Celtic .

I watched The Road with Viggo Mortnesen. Great movie. A downer, but a realistic view of what a post apocalyptic world would be like.

I've read the book, i haven't seen the film though now that you've reminded me i think i'll buy it because i love Viggo in A History of Violence,LOTR and Eastern Promises.

Ok, with the temps over 100 degrees and me not feeling like doing anything it's been a lazy ass day for me. I've been watching movies/tv almost all day. Starting with Fallen (Denzel Washington) a nice creepy flick; Then, even creepier, Omen II with William Holden, which I hadn't seen in years, but a pretty decent sequel; Then I couldn't resist re-watching a few episodes of "The Bates Motel." You know that is really a good show.

To top it all off I can never resist Jason Bourne and they are showing "The Bourne Identity on TNT. I absolute love Bourne movies.

And that's my lazy Sunday.

Haha i was watching the bates motel today 2 i had never seen it b4 but i was hooked after the first episode and im whatching the bourne ultamatum right now.

Dellacroce, I highly recommend Bates Motel. I was reminded as a re-watched how good the show is. Norma (forgot her real names) is really a good actress (as is the rest of the cast)

Bourne Ultimatum will show next, BUT I have to watch AMC's "The Killing so I won't see all of Bourne Ultimatum (I have all 3 on video tho. LOL)

Ya bates motel is really compelling, i had never seen the original movie which im definatly going to have to go rent. But is the killing also really good? Its been in my netflix que for awhile i just havnt got around to it yet, but if its on par with the other amc shows ( breaking bad, the walking dead) it should at least be worth cheacking out right?

I don't know how ya'll can live on this diet of murder shows. You remind me of my mother who read nothing but murder mysteries. For a time we were worried: she took notes.

He is one of best actors of these times.

Saturday night I watched "High Noon" 1952, starring Gary Cooper, Grace Kelly. 61 years ago, movies sure have changed, but a good story is a good story.

What I found amusing was the actors in supporting roles; Harry Morgan - (Dragnet, M*A*S*H's Col. Potter), Lloyd Bridges (Sea Hunt, father of Jeff and the other kid, and lots of movies), Lon Chaney Jr.(The Wolf Man), Lee Van Cleef (ubiquitous bad guy).

This past weekend for some reason I thought of High Noon. But no blood; no naked women; no foul language. I don't know. Should it really be considered one of the best westerns ever? I mean, how can you make any movie without all of those things?

Thank You! I think one day Hollywood will remake a classic westerns and add car chases, and movie goers will suspend any disbelief.

Watched world war z today with brad pitt. It was a pretty good zombie flick, nice action scenes and great special effects and a pretty good story. I give it a solid 7 or 8 out of 10.

I have wanted to see WWZ. I hope to get around to it.

THE LONE RANGER has some of the same intended slapstick mayhem charms of the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN films, and it does kinda work. Just about as bloated as that series in general. But what an oddball, halfbaked blockbuster. It drags in too many spots, a half hour too long and goes back and forth as both a sincere cornball throwback to the white hat western heroics and a parody of it. (Doesn't really work.)

I think the biggest problem is that it saddles itself with two origin stories for Mr. Lone Ranger and Tonto, and...they're not very interesting at all. Kinda boring honestly. Origin stories for say Superman and Batman and Spider-Man and so forth work because part of those characters' appeals as mythology goes.

Then again maybe I'm biased because Lone Ranger has been an irrelevant character since what, the 1950s? (Or let me put it this way: Sometimes origin stories are good to make a protagonist appealing. Other times actions do just fine. Did anybody care about knowing Jack Sparrow's origins in the first PIRATES movie with his antics and outsmarting his enemies?)

In contrast, I think of DREDD last year. That movie understood that Judge Dredd's origins didn't matter at all. He's fun because he's a resourceful, tough son of a bitch who shoots bad guys in the face.

TLR, not a bad film. It has some charms (the train race finale is insane) and not as bad as the terrible reviews are making this out to be. But you can wait for DVD on this one.

Pacific Rim

Actually pretty good if you approach it in the right frame of mind, i.e. it's rather predictable, your typical pop-corn flick, but it's fun and has some great battle scenes. Definitely needs to be seen on the big screen though.

I agree Ivy League. Pacific Rim I thought was a pretty good movie. Just like you said you have to approach with the right mind frame. I don't think it's a movie for eveyone but it certainly was my type of movie, but I wouldn't say it was phenomenal.

Yes the story is blockbuster autopilot with characters and arches borrowed from TOP GUN and INDEPENDENCE DAY and several other summer movies. But I admire that unlike the works of Michael Bay (and MAN OF STEEL), such a pitch doesn't end up being an excuse for poorly paced, boring mayhem porn. The filmmakers are actually intrigued by the concept of an everyday life where giant robots and monsters duke it out regularly. This is terrific science fiction regarding the thought put behind the machinery of these robots, along with the "Drifting" and all that.

I liked this. ***1/2 out of 5.

Watched Safe House(2012), Denzel Washington's a pretty damn good actor. And the movie also was great.

I never got around to that one. Now on top of my Netflix queue. Thanks!

Caught RED 2 yesterday. Meh. Dragged for too much of the movie for my taste. Then again to be fair, I wasn't the biggest fan of RED, which was watchable enough of an action/comedy I suppose. Perhaps fans will forgive this sequel more than I did? (My crowd ate this up.) Best Bruce Willis movie of 2013, which to be fair is not exactly saying much.

Now THE CONJURING, I would definately recommend that one folks. It's so goddamn refreshing to see a horror film actually made with methodical pacing and a successful attempt at atmosphere. Most engaging mainstream horror movie I've seen in ages.

This takes its time establishing both families, the large family realizing too late they just moved into a haunted house (I would sue their real estate agent) and the other a demon-busting family who go out and give college lectures about their work. Mind you I don't believe in ghosts and exorcisms and all that stuff, but I found this clinical approach to that topic very fascinating. Of course they have to go into that house and with a mixture of technology and old time religion asskicking figure out the mystery behind this house and solve it.

CONJURING will remind you of past terrific films of this sort like POLTERGEIST and THE CHANGELING and Robert Wise's THE HAUNTING and all that. But unlike most recently produced horror films, this doesn't do an empty shout-out to such old glories and ride on their coattails. No CONJURING works as a thriller for the same reasons as those films did.

Good movie. One of the better horror flicks I've seen in some time. Has 85% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Anyone ever see a movie called "Red Eye?" HBO is running it this week. Story of one woman's terrifying flight with an assassin. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Much of the same excitement ast Eagle Eye which also was action packed.

Never have i just googled it though and it sounds quite interesting, i may give it a try sometime. It shocked me that it is a Wes Craven film since he usually directs Horrors, who knows what this madman will do though since he directed this

Yes Camarel I too was surprised to see Wes Craven's name. When you get a chance, check it out.

I can't say I've heard of Music of the Heart.
