There are still pay phones. They are typically employed by suspicous characters (at least the one outside my building). I would assume they use whatever a modern day individual uses in their personal lives, however, I would say most of them (the smart ones) dont talk about business over the phone.

They prefer to use Iphone I think only the Genovese Family use Iphones. The Columbo's share their minutes on a family plan cosidering times are tough for them. Luchhessee is for sure an iphone family scarfo jr. in his indictment was nicknamed "Mr. Apple"
