You should remember those 'bastards' are the ones who saved it after it was cancelled on NBC before airing the second season.
In reality you should be thankful that they gave the show and its fanbase the respect of maintaining it for 3 extra years despite mediocre ratings.

We should also remember Leno was why SOUTHLAND got canned at NBC in the first place, remember when he "retired" from the Tonight Show but then got a 10pm gig? That show flop (probably one of the biggest in TV history) really fucked NBC's schedule that year because it totally eradicated their nightly 10pm slot.
So yeah sorry SL fans that it got cancelled, but at least you got some more episodes out of this.
