I am glad that they split them into two different films. If they had made it all one big film, it would not have worked, because Volume one and Volume two were completely different films. If it had been one film, it would be terribly uneven.

I thought David Carradine was great, but I think Warren Beatty would have done a good job as well. But, Kevin Costner, who was also considered, would have been horrible in my opinion.
