The devastation of the Oklahomaa tragedies is hard to fathom. I understand that today more tornadoes will follow.
On a brighter note I forgot to mention that this past Saturday my grandmother celebrated her 99th birthday with a family dinner and a few glasses of wine at a nice local restarant. Wow, 99 yrs old? I can't even imagine it. How wonderful for your grandmother Kly. How is her general health (considering her age). Next year will be quite a landmark. Happy Birthday Kly's grandma. The oldest relative in my family, that I remember was my great grandmother who lived to 94. My father was 90 AND I have an aunt who is still living (in Detroit) and shes 94. TIS

I had a great-uncle or possibly great-great-uncle, i'm not sure because i didn't know him that well, but he died in 2006 at the age of 104. It's crazy to think he was born in 1902 and still reached the 21st century. Happy bday to your grandmother Thanks, Camarel. My grandmother has 5 years to go to reach him. If she has her wish, she won't get there. While she greets each new day with cheerfulness, she has told me more than once that she has lived too long and is ready to welcome death whenever it arrives. Her vision has greatly deteriorated and last week the last of her contemporary friends died at the age of 96. All of her friends and family are from a generation younger than her. She has had a couple of cousins, who had lived to their mid-90s, and had a second cousin, who died in Illinois a few years ago, who was 109. Obviously, we hope to plan a significant celebration for her 100th birthday, but she doesn't look at that as a milestone.

Pope Francis rocked some religious and atheist minds today when he declared that everyone was redeemed through Jesus, including atheists.
The Lord created us in His image and likeness, and we are the image of the Lord, and He does good and all of us have this commandment at heart: do good and do not do evil. All of us. ‘But, Father, this is not Catholic! He cannot do good.’ Yes, he can... "The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ: all of us, not just Catholics. Everyone! ‘Father, the atheists?’ Even the atheists. Everyone!".. We must meet one another doing good. ‘But I don’t believe, Father, I am an atheist!’ But do good: we will meet one another there. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/22...ref=mostpopular
"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives." Winter is Coming
Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die. As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

This same sentiment is contained in the catechism, written by John Paul II, and wasn't shocking then as it was viewed as church teaching. Many Christians though believe that salvation is predicated on a belief that Christ is Lord and Savior, and some profess that this belief alone guarantees eternal life.

Atheists to start 1-800 hotline for doubters By Dan Merica, CNN (CNN) – Who can people call when religious doubts arise, but they're afraid to talk to their faith leaders or families? A group that helps people "recover" from religion says it's ready to pick up the phone. Recovering from Religion, which has about 40 support groups in the U.S. and Britain, plans to launch a hotline that will offer doubters an anonymous place to ask difficult questions and find communities of like-minded nonbelievers. The group plans to staff the help line 24 hours a day and is modeling it after services like suicide prevention hotlines. Sarah Morehead, executive director of Recovering from Religion, told CNN that the mission is to help people, not convert them to atheism. “A lot of the times they just need someone to talk to," Morehead said. The 1-800 number has yet to be named. Recovering from Religion is trying to raise $30,000 by June 30 to fund "The Hotline Project" with up to 40 counselors. Ideally, the help line would be live by the holiday season, said Morehead, which is often a difficult time for people struggling with religious doubts.
