I haven't seen it, but it's baffling a director would've made a film of that nature when he's famous for films like Nightmare on Elm Street,Scream,Last House on The Left etc.

Caught THE WOLVERINE last night. Decent, engaging enough actioneer that's both an existential story and a Clint Eastwood-type movie with a well-paced, economical narrative of action, humor, and plot not getting in the way. Too bad the movie sorta jumps the rails in the 3rd act by being the cartoonish sillyness that up to then TW had refreshingly avoided. But regardless, an afternoon still worth seeing.
Or let's put it another way. This is a film where we have an immortal hero with retractable claws surviving a nuclear blast, a humanoid snake mutant villainess, another mutant who's a master samurai swordsman soothsayer, a ridiculous (and ridiculously entertaining) train sequence with characters using gravity to fight each other, heart surgery is done by hand through the chest. Yet the giant samurai robot is generally considered by most folks to be the absurd bridge too far. I consider this credit to a picture that (mostly) works.
(Be sure to stay in your seats and watch the mid-credits scene. Absolute joy, and sets up X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE past out next summer. Hell of a teaser!)

Just watched hangover 3, it was better than i expected. Not as funny as the original ofcourse but it had its moments and it wasnt as ridicoulos as i thought it might be. But overall it was a good and fitting end to the hangover saga.

I thought Hangover was hilarious and but that's the only one I've seen of the three.
HBO just ran "The Bourne Legacy" and I must admit it wasn't half bad. A whole lot of action, especially in the end. I did enjoy it. However, that being said, I still maintain there is only ONE Jason Bourne and that's Matt Damon. It just didn't seem quite the same to me. Sort of like watching a "Bourne-ish" type movie and not the real thing.

Ya thats about the same feeling i had about to. It was a well done and an intriguing storyline and jeremy renner is a good actor but hes no matt damon. I forget how it was said exactly by the director but i think it was something like that it was in the same universe as the other bourne films, meaning that the time frame of the events in legacy were happening simultaneously with the events in the other bourne movies. Which is kind of strange but intriguing concept and a pretty creative way to continue with the bourne saga despite damon not wanting to sign up for another one.

I saw Matt Damon on Today with Matt Lauer promoting "Elysium". He seems so genuine and down to earth. He got a little annoyed with the interview when Lauer asked him about a quote attributed to Damon that said he's sure that Brad Pitt is jealous of him. Matt Damon said that the quote was taken out of context and that what he actually said was that Brad Pitt is probably jealous of the fact that Matt Damon can walk his kids to school without being mobbed. And then he looked at Matt Lauer and said in a rather cold voice, "Yeah, because Brad Pitt has lots to be jealous of."

Saw Elysium. Good movie. A few plot holes and a fairly predictable ending but the visual effects and action more than make up for it. I don't know what Blomkamp's secret is but, if you've seen this movie or District 9, his special effects are head and shoulders above everybody else. So realistic looking. Not CGI looking at all. Sharlto Copley, who plays the bad guy Kruger (and was the lead in District 9) steals the show, in my opinion.

I liked Hangover 3 too. The 2nd one SUCKED and of course none will be better than the first. The way 3 ended there HAS to be another one soon.
I took the wife out to see We're The Millers Friday night and you talk about a funny ass movie!! One of the best comedies out in awhile for me, probably since Hangover 3.

Fruitvale Station was a really good movie and should likely be an early Oscar contender.
"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives." Winter is Coming Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die. As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

"Now You See Me" was crap. Plots for movies have become really dumb as of late. I rarely get to watch a movie that I liked based on the story and script. :[
Star Trek and Iron Man 3 were fun.

This movie is well acted, written and directed. It's Oscar bait. It also takes a left turn (pun definitely intended) to put itself firmly on one side of a social question. This happens in the film's denouement. I was blindsided but some other people who saw the film thought that the twist was incredibly obvious and that I evidently simply hadn't been paying attention to earlier events. Either way afterwards I felt a little manipulated. But sometimes those are the feelings that a good writer/director brings forth right? YMMV on the ending. It made clear poverty's cost. It also might make you think just how far are you from a much reduced standard of living? This is a pretty bleak film that doesn't pull punches on what impoverishment does to people. There are choices that people make that are informed or rather deformed by lack of money.
Anyway.
Melissa (Naomi Watts) is a convenience store clerk who lives in a motel with her boyfriend, former construction worker Richie (Matt Dillon- who seems somehow not to have aged at all over the past twenty years-good genes and clean living or deal with the Infernal Powers?). Richie is permanently crippled and lives off his small disability check. Richie's got a good heart. He is mechanically handy but also likes to drink. He hasn't fully accepted that he can't do the things for his girlfriend that he'd like to do, and no I'm not talking about sex as Richie and Melissa have a pretty active intimate life. I'm talking about simple things like buying his girlfriend a working umbrella or leaving the motel. Richie doesn't like that Melissa is the breadwinner or that his car runs out of gas as he drives her to work. Richie never feels sorry for himself and refuses to let anyone else do so.
This film, much like Collyer's past work (Sherrybaby), examines the lives of the working poor. Melissa and Richie have some additional challenges pop up, including but not limited to Melissa's old boyfriend Justin (Norman Reedus) and her lecherous boss Edwin, which will strain their relationship to the breaking point.

i took last week off of work and decided to get caught up on movies. i saw gravity, the counselor, and captain phillips. All three were great films, but gravity was by far the best, awesome special effects. The counselor had a great cast but i thought it couldve been better, it was just kinda missing something, couldnt really put my finger on what though, although it had a good plot and overall it was a solid movie, o yeah cameron diaz is crazy. captain phillips was great, had some good action and excellent insight into the somali pirate situation, tom hanks is a great actor but no matter how hard i try all i can think about when he talks is woody from toy story.

I rewatched Dog Day Afternoon yesterday, great film, Pacino is amazing in it. Only recently i found out it was a true story, so i looked into it and the guy Pacino plays really resembles him.

I watched "Scent of a Woman" two days ago, and I must admit that it's the best performance of Al Pacino I have seen ever! I'll even take a risk saying, it was better than "Godfather II."
Chris O'Donnell's role has been really amazing played, but Pacino completely demolished him with his acting in this movie. Hats off!
The scenario, camera movements, dialogues (!) and many more, it's just too much to deal with and describe. I might write a larger and more extensive review soon, if someone would like to read it.
Anyway, I highly recommend this movie to anyone, whether you are kids, teenagers, middle-aged adults or elder people. It completely does not matter, because the movie is above that. You can watch this film again and again, and you'll still be content.
10/10.

I am watching a lot of bad movies these days because my girlfriend refuses to watch horror movies and any movies with violence; the latest being Mr and Mrs Smith. Terrible movie. All style, no substance. Vacuous crap.
Brad Pitt is a pretty shit actor. I know it's obvious but when you are watching De Niro/Keitel/Bale or Norton, you get lost in their characters. With Pitt, you are just watching Brad Pitt look cool.
Brat Pitt is just too mainstream, in my opinion. It's not like he's a bad actor, hence he had a good role in "Seven years in Tibet." I also liked him in the movie about Benjamin Button.
Haven't seen many films with his persona, since he's not my type of actor, but I don't think he's "bad."

He's not a bad actor imo. I haven't seen Seven Years in Tibet, but i agree with Benjamin Button it wasn't a good movie but i thought he gave a good performance. As well as that i'd say Snatch,Fight Club and especially Burn After Reading where he was hilarious and the best thing about the film imo. One thing i struggle to find is a film where he was really bad, then again i haven't seen Mr and Mrs Smith so maybe that's where.

In what movie has Harvey Kietel been that special? The only movie i liked him in was Mean Streets, he really annoyed me in Reservoir Dogs and The Last Temptation of Christ.
Same goes for Bale. I loved him in American Psycho, but imo he was an average Bruce Wayne the trilogies success had little to do with Bale imo. I haven't seen The Fighter though so maybe he was great as Micky Ward?
