Hey, I'm going to Chicago soon and was looking into the mobster tours. Has anybody done any of these? Are they worth it? Which one is best?

The Untouchables one is pretty basic and touristy, but fun. They'll show you the basics.

I read someone started a more serious/academic one of houses in the burbs (Aacardo, Giancana etc.) but don't know anything about it.

Those are the only two I know about.

Fuck that, take a real tour of current destinations. That 20s/30s shit is irrelevant

Took the untouchables tour a few years ago, pretty worthless if you are not a complete "tourist". Better to locate the places yourself, I even went to Cicero smile

It depends on how much you know. The average visitor knows nothing. I remember they took you around to the massacre site, Lexington hotel site, Taylor Street, the Hymie Weiss and Dean O'Banion assasinations and a few more.

So if you already know all that stuff, yes, it's useless.

For the average person who has only a very casual and fleeting interest in this and just wants to see where the famous stuff happened, I thought it was OK.

Johnny: true. But also I think they can present it way more interesting even to the newbie.

If they could make some kind of "outfit tour" through the decades Id probably come running.

No? Those sites aren't even in existence anymore. They'll bring you to yuppie-infested places in Lincoln park that bear no resemblance to anything of any significance, and tell you that "such & such occurred here almost a century ago!". You won't get anything out of it.

Go hang out on grand Ave, or go hang out in east Bridgeport, or berwyn.
