[quote=dsbaloo]Is phil abramo really getting out in 2018 or is he doing life?
In 2008, a federal appeals court reversed Abramo's racketeering conviction and ordered a new trial.

I was told by an authority it was connected , thru a tony parish or a similiar name at port Newark Are you sure it's this case? What did it have to do with Port Newark? Any idea who controls stuff in Mercer County (Trenton/Princeton area). As someone said above, years ago the Gambinos had a presence there. A black bookie and numbers guy named Alvin Brown has been busted there a number of times over the past decade. In the past he had ties to the Gambinos through Anthony Tassone. westside in NJ seems like its own family at this point, The Genovese crews in Jersey are still answerable to the family's top leadership in New York. A while back, acting boss Danny Leo gave Anthony Palumbo oversight of the family's operations in the state.

Who's got more info on ninny and what his crew is into? Also who is In his crew? His last two busts, in 2003 and 2004, involved mostly illegal gambling. Huge bookmaking operation that stretched throughout the state. The 2004 bust, which also included Larry Dentico, even included Genovese a bookmaking operation that had opened up in Philadelphia. I think its crazy how much activity is in jersey as a whole from the philly guys to ny fams and the decavalcantes. Always curious with the decavalcantes current situation.. Are they getting all their rackets slowly eaten up by the westside and gambinos? Or do they still hold some strenght in certain areas of jersey? Wonder if they have made some young guys and are still trying to keep it going? Curious to see what will happen when abramo, vitabile get back on the street If you look at the relatively recent cases involving the DeCavalcantes, even the big one back in the late 1990's and early 2000's, they don't seem to have a big stake in the gambling and loansharking rackets in the state, which seem to be run mostly by the NY families. Traditionally, their niche was always labor racketeering in the construction industry through their control of the Laborers Union, especially Local 394. A lot of DeCavalcante guys got ousted from the union and Local 394 was put under oversight back in 2006. It remains to be seen if that will be successful in eliminating their influence. The relative lack of activity over the past decade seems to suggest the family has been running on fumes. The NJ OC report back in 2004 said the family was "undergoing reorganization and re-entrenchment at the hands of a skeleton crew of non-indicted members."

I don't think lack of arrests automatically means lack of activity. The family was pretty quiet after the Riggi bust until the late 1990's when the FBI found out they were expanding. In some cases, a lack of arrests means the family is rebuilding and keeping a lower profile. Look at Philly after Joey Merlino was sent to prison until the recent case.

Genovese's have the top crews in New Jersey in my honest opinion, most notable Palumbo crew. Lucchese had a strong crew but has been weakened and is still recovering from the Amuso and Casso fiasco. For the Bonanno's, Sammartino Sr. runs that crew based out of Bayonne, the crew was powerful during the piazza connection era but lost a lot of it's momentum, it is now a shadow of its former self and who the fuck is this Daniel Bonanno? while ofcourse the Amuso and Casso antics hurt the Jersey crew, they pretty much caused acceturo and riccardi to flip taking down the tacceta brothers. but attribute the weakened state their in now to them being hammered with indictments over the past 7 years. first operation heat in 07 and then again 2010 with another big gambling bust. it looks like the operation heat case which have been in some type of legal limbo for over the past 5 years is close to coming to ahead, so we could see all the Pernas going down along with some other top guys from that crew. but ofcourse the lucheses are far from being wiped out of north jersey. and it goes without saying that the west side has the most influence in new jersey. they have their hands in the unions on the ports and in garbage hauling along with having the biggest books. and having their influence not limited to north jersey, like the other new york crews are, but also have reaches into south jersey. lol dont even bother asking about daniel bonnano, just a figment of a poor souls imagination.
