Pretty detailed list compiled of A couple of notes.

*List is NOT complete by any means. Many confirmed soldiers I don't wish to add until I have more information on them. Furthermore I haven't transcribed all their names in to my Notepad. But we will get there.
*Still not sure about Kooch Marranca but for now I'm included him.
*Complete list comes later! Lots of older names of black handers. Informants have basically given the whole chart up, it will just take a while to compile. Enjoy.

Are we sure Charles "Lips" Fratello is dead? And what about Michael Insalaco?

I'm not surprised. He probably has some money stashed away and doesn't want to die in prison. Working at the deli gives him a legit source of income so he can spend his stash. Most of these guys don't have any skills or knowledge to do any other type of legit work but menial jobs.

Billy had quite a few connections to Youngstown, OH and ran a waste hauling scheme from NJ to Poland, OH (suburb of Youngstown). He also used Victor Calautti, owner and president of National Builders Inc., as his main money launderer: Check out this article:

They sure do...used car sales is a lucrative business and an auto body shop that deals in cash is very lucrative...strip clubs, used car lots and restaurants seem to be the businesses of choice for most mob guys who need to show legitimate income.

Well, you know, even if the made men die of old age the bookies and loansharks don't really go away. Harrisburg Crew (led by Aldo Magnelli) had a lot of unmade associates. Nicholas Cantone (associate) is still involved in gambling today. He's 57 and until recently was involved in a legal battle with the state of Pennslvania because he refused to follow smoking and gambling laws in his restaurant, Cantone's. So a couple years ago he tried to register Cantone's as a private chapter of the Sons of Italy so patrons could legally gamble. I think most tellingly, anyone even non-Italians could join and then get free access to the gambling. It was pretty smart but just three years ago it, and his other two bars in the area were foreclosed on.

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2012/06/metro_bank_is_foreclosing_on_c.html

Another Harrisburg-area bookie Magnelli and Cantone were partnered with was John "Fish" Troutman, who also worked for Magnelli, just like all the other ones. He was white, but took action from the black gamblers. He was stabbed to death in his house in 2011.

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2011/01/obituaries_today_john_fish_tro.html
dex.ssf/2011/01/slaying_victim_was_a_bookie_fr.html

I assume there's still a little action leftover with the remnants of the other crews...but not much. A restaurant with a couple machines is a far cry from a gambling junket.

D'elia didn't have too many street guys around him. His "mob" by 2008, 2009 was really his gang of corrupted judges, businessmen, and lawyers. The book "Kids for Cash" briefly mentions his role in corrupting local judges to send kids to jail, for a profit.

Really it's like Pittsburgh. Men go away, rackets don't, and for the next 10 years the slack will be picked up by the guys who were peripherally involved in the decades preceding.

They said the same thing to Pittsburgh and we can only speculate "why". Truth is I haven't heard a single case of made NY guys operating in Pittsburgh, in Scranton, in Wilkes-Barre. Perhaps the Commission was scheming to take over their territory but in all the ensuing indictments, never followed through. The Bufalinos had some crews in upstate New York though and maybe they wanted to stop new blood from being made in to the family up there.

Those brownstones you are talking about are really in the more upscale areas of Brooklyn, like Park Slope. was there the other day. Beautiful, tons of kids. Hard to imagine there is much Mob stuff happening there.
