Have any Board members seen the Life of Pi? I haven't been able to watch much of it. If so, was he actually in a lifeboat with a tiger? One couldn't really say if any of what he said was the truth. In the end he asked the writer if he liked the version with tiger or the one without it, as parallel to a belief in God or lack thereof. That's a story that supposed to make you believe in God. As if which version we prefer is necessarily the truth. Movie had some great cinematography, started well, but sadly fell flat in the end.

Anyone watch "Under the Dome" last night? WTF???? Very underwhelming. Only thing I can think of is, the tv description noted it was "season 1 finale". So, evidently there is to be a season two? I really like the story but something more has got to give. TIS

It got renewed and I was wondering how long could they drag this out, after all, they are under the dome and are falling like flies.

Hi Afs, I think you and I are the only ones watching. I can't believe how the lady police officer is buying into Big Jim's BS. AND not only that, she's ok with a Guillotine for God's sake?? They can't hang Barbee. TIS Btw, I read last week that "The Killing" was cancelled (again) and will have no more episodes.

They probably don't get to hang Barbie, there seemed to be a blinding light after that dark. I hate it that we have to wait another year. As for "The Killing" as "this show is killing me" I'm glad it's over. I watched finale and I was so angry that it was Sara's partner. Then if it had another season, it would have turned out that it wasn't him. It doesn't get to frak with me anymore.

So TIS, how did the dome get there?
The Killing has been canceled. Oli, SPOILERS FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T SEEN SEASON FINALELast night we found out that the dome was caused by some kind of alien/s who can appear in human form to look like one of the residents of Chester's Mill. This alien indicated the dome is there to protect them not harm them. Beyond that we were left hanging. Like Barbie (Btw, I said guillotine, and I meant whatever the wooden hanging contraption is technically called.) Barbie was to hang not get beheaded. I read an article last week saying the Killing was definitely cancelled. Then again, it came back once, so who knows. I liked this very last season better than the first 2 (which seemed like one to me). TIS

Has anyone seen HBO's "Hitchcock?" It stars Anthony Hopkins as Hitch and tells the story of he and his wife Alma's life during the filming of Psycho. I didn't see that it's based on a true story, so not sure if it's story comes from the cast/crew, etc. Anyway, an inside look at Hitchcock who I learned is sort of a strange guy, falling for his leading ladies...or maybe obsessed would be more accurate. You see scenes from the movie within this movie, including the actor playing Anthony Perkins, who looks/acts a lot like him. Moreso it's Scarlett Johannson who plays Janet Leigh who the story evolves around. I thought Hopkins was very good in the role and sounded/acted a lot like the Hitchcock we knew. I was amused at the clever ending in which Psycho has ended as a success and Hitchock is standing outside talking about not knowing exactly what his next project will be, when suddenly, what lands on his shoulder.........a black bird (crow). Is anyone watching the Emmys? I've tuned in but must admit I don't watch most of the shows nominated, and some of these people I've never heard of. I do like Neil Patrick Harris as the host and want to see James Gandolfini tribute which I think Edie Falco is doing. Also, I want to see Elton John perform. TIS

Boardwalk Empire is on first at 6:00 p.m. and again at 8:00. I figure I'll watch at 8:00 this time, instead of turning channel back & forth. Plus, I really do want to see Gandolfini tribute and Elton John. (Btw, I hear Elton will do a tribute to Liberace.) Btw, didn't John Hamm's suit look way to tight? TIS P.S. I'm pissed that the Walking Dead isn't nominated for anything. It's one of the best shows on IMO.

I love Colbert, and am glad he won, but I love Jon Stewart too. TIS So do I, but then the last time he and almost everyone else said that enough already with giving the Emmy to him by default. I have to say I usually look forward to Colbert even more than The Daily Show and a little bit of politically incorrect humor wouldn't kill anybody. They should really vote for Colbert half of the times.

Afs, Daily Show/Colbert are on here in CA at 8 and again at 11:00 p.m. If I miss the 8:00 I usually don't stay awake for the 11:00 show but try to catch later. I know John Oliver has been taking Stewart's place during the summer. Tho I don't mind him, I didn't watch either much this summer. Btw, don't know if you got it there or saw it, but one of Colbert's BEST performances was at one of the White House Correspondence dinner during the BUSH administration. He was great in his own in your face humor. I don't think ANYONE there knew much about him then and I doubt he was ever asked back. TIS

TIS I have to download them just to be able to watch them, so I can watch them any time I want, though a few hours later. John Oliver was all right. I think if Stewart ever wants to retire, he could take the show on and do a pretty good job. And I did watch that performance of Colbert. Suffice to say, it made ME uncomfortable and I'm not a fan of Bush at all. Imagine that. Still I think that was too cruel, saying all of that right to his face.
