Some pretty intense photo's of the car after it exploded. They had to use dental records to id them. Walkers friend was driving the Porsche GT....some articles say it was Walkers car but other articles say it was his friends. Either way that Porsche GT is a pretty fast car.

Yup...i'm pretty sure you were watching Walkers movie. I thought it was pretty decent myself.

Chazz Palminteri was in it too.

I loved Running Scared. Great movie.

Anyway, I'll forego the obvious irony jokes about this.

I remember how brutal and vicious the apartheid regime in South Africa was in the 70s and 80s. Despite woldwide condemnation I always thought Mandela was certain to die in prison. That he was eventually released seemed miraculous, but the transformation of the country that he inspired and led defied the wildest dreams.

His willingness to embrace and include those, who had oppressed him for seventy years was astonishing and accelerated the spread of justice, freedom and dignity in his country.

Mike Tyson got knocked out and the next day Mandela was released. It was a pretty eventful weekend.

I remember being so excited to see him at Tiger Stadium in 1990.

Peter O'Toole, aged 81, died.

TIS and Danito had picked him on their lists.

A good actor, I'll best remember him for a remark by Groucho Marx; Marx once ended a letter to someone asking, "Did you ever notice that the name Peter O'Toole has a double phallic meaning"?

Sorry to hear it. I know "Lawrence of Arabia" was probably his best known role, but for me, for some reason, I remember O'Toole & Audrey Hepburn in "How To Steal A Million." smile

Two of my favorite films of his were The Ruling Class and My Favorite Year.

The films were as different as night and day, but he gave, IMO, Oscar-worthy performances in both.

Joan Fontaine, one of the last remaining stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood, died at age 96.

Don Marco, Mig, TIS and I had picked her for our lists this year.

SC,

I just now read that story and was about to post it too. I only know him from the Billy Jack films which were really big back in the 70s. Anyone remember the theme song "One Tin Soldier?" How weird that I just heard that song yesterday.

Anyway RIP Tom Laughlin frown
