My boy went through that same phase two years ago. We even vacationed in Disney World where they had a Star Wars themed show. They brought the kids on stage for "jedi training" and to fight Darth Vader.

I saw them as a kid when they were released and then got back into them with my son's interest. I didn't see the films that were released in the early 2000s until my son watched them. I thought that the third one, Revenge of the Sith, was as good as the original three released between 1977-80.

Don't expect them to get over it any time soon. My daughter is a big fan, and she's almost 24. When she calls me, her ring tone is the Star Wars theme.

The other night I watched "Jeremiah Johnson" (1972) on IFC. Robert Redford was the hot actor of the 70s. My wife loved him more than me. cry But he was cool; rugged, yet pretty-boy good looks. The movie is one of my favorites from that time period. Looking at it now, it still holds up. Cinematography and scenery are beautiful. Its a very simplistic story and such a contrast to today's culture. No smartphones to find out where the nearest stream of drinkable water might be.

Just saw "American Hustle" last night. Didn't care for it at all. Couldn't tell if it was a comedy or a drama. Tho acting was good, I was bored. I just didn't find the story interesting, and the characters were all annoying. Just my opinion. ohwell

Saw this today. Very good movie but one you have to approach in the right frame of mind. Especially those of us who believe Noah was a real person and the flood was a real event.

First, considering the basic story found in the Bible is quite short, one has to allow for a certain amount of "artistic license" to build a full length film around it.

Second, it does help to be familiar with Darren Aronofsky and his style of film making.

Third, one has to make allowances for Hollywood not knowing the correct interpretation of certain scriptural passages, many of which are naturally difficult to present on screen.

Fourth, in one interview, one of the writers said they chose to make Noah more conflicted and not aware of God's will all at once.

Anyway, whatever individual imperfections the movie has are far outweighed by the whole. It's a very spiritual film and visually incredible.

I watched last year's Man of Steel. I was surprised by a few things including appearances by Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne, and Kevin Costner. Also, the evil protagonist was none other than (miscast) the guy who played the former Treasury agent in Boardwalk Empire. Not a bad movie though.

By the way, Amy Adams played Lois Lane and apparently has had her nose altered. It looks worse than before.

I re-watched "There Will Be Blood" (2007) recently. Incredible performance by Daniel Day Lewis. Just amazing.

Un-cut, un-edited? It can be brutal. One of my favorites for the depth of emotion and pathos. As a Viet Nam era person who by-passed the draft, when watching Platoon I can't help but wonder what I would have done.

Last night I watched most of the 1970 film, M*A*S*H. By today's standards it is probably a silly bore. Back in 1970 it was ground breaking as was "The Graduate". Partial nudity, bawdy, irreverent. And a great cast. Donald Sutherland, Elliot Gould, Tom Skerrit, Robert Duvall (yes, Tom Hagen) and Sally Kellerman. Gary Burgoff played Radar O'Reilly and was then cast in the TV show.

Prisoners. 7/10, either wasn't in the mood or it was just too long.

Just happened to turn tv and catch one of those "paid programming" shows. This one featured highlights of Dean Martin Roasts. I forgot how funny they were. A whole lot of big names and hilarious jokes/putdowns. Reminds me too of how much I liked Dino.

Indeed. I did too TIS. I just loved his smooth delivery whether it was singing, acting, or talking. He seemed to be always so relaxed.

So may one-liners and slams to each other. I've been cracking up laughing the entire half hour. Very nostalgic. It really remains funny even today. Love it.

Example: Show ended with Dean Martin saying, "Thank you, I'll always remember this night.............Until I get to my car." lol

anyone seen this movie, horror doesn't usually scare me, but this was good, a movie to watch alone at night for sure.

I think "When A Stranger Calls Back" is a follow-up to "When I Stranger Calls", right?

Anyone watching CNN (on now) show titled "The Sixties?" It's pretty interesting showing tv shows, events during that era. Pretty interesting and nostalgic for those of us who lived thru the 60s.

Just watched "Lone Survivor" which is the true story of Navy SEAL Marcus Lutrell. Mark Walberg plays his role. A very well done movie, but I am sorry that they didn't have a PS to tell of Marcus' murder by a PTSD victim who he was teaching to shoot and helping other PTSD victims. Also of the lawsuit by dirtbag Jessie Ventura who is suing Marcus' wife and estate for damaging his reputation.

HBO is airing The Godfather which is unusual. I see it always on AMC but don't recall it being on HBO. Anyway, the big advantage of HBO is no edits and no commercials.

Is it better than the first time you saw it?

I just watched Raging Bull for the first time the other night. It's great of course, a little depressing.

I plan on watching Bugsy, The Roaring Twenties, and Al Capone sometime soon.

I forgot to add that I am watching The Sixties also. Very good!

Yes, but I still have not finished watching it. Who is the actor that killed the guys in the car after he gave them the jewels and he got the cash. I thought that actor was very good.

Roaring twenties s a great movie. I have all of cagney's gangster movies.

Al Capone with rod Steiger? Do you have amazone prime? It is not on prime, but you can buy it on amazon instant video and have now. That is how I bought once upon a time in America. Why wait for it when you can get it now

I'm not sure who that actor is, you can check on IMDB. It's been awhile since I've seen it. Al Capone is actually on the TCM app, so I can see it for free smile

In another thread I posted about the GF being shown on HBO and Cinemax many times over the past few months. AMC does own the rights through 2019, so I guess it gets to license it out to those networks.

Long story short: AMC is the only channel on Basic Cable that can show the Trilogy. The Pay Channels can still air them for a fee.

Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise and directed by Doug Liman (the guy who did The Bourne Identity). One of the better films I've seen in a while. I would highly recommend it.
