I was able to get the 1963 listings from FBI reports a couple months after the Valachi hearings. It's actually pretty impressive to see how quickly they got on the ball after the hearings.

The 1988 listings are from the Senate Subcommittee Hearings on organized crime - "25 Years After Valachi". A few months ago, I posted the 1983 lists from a similar subcommittee.


They did start going after the Mafia at that time, due in no small part to Robert Kennedy, but the effort didn't last. An ongoing campaign against the mob sort of died out after Kennedy was killed and didn't really become a big national priority again until the 1980's. By that point, prosecutors were finally starting to see the value of RICO and the Reagan administration really supported the effort. That's why you don't see a real attack on the Mafia, on a national level, until the 1980's.
