I prefer that ride starting from 322 past Lewistown and State College to 99 rather than taking the PA Turnpike to Bedford and Somerset even though it is a little longer. The mountains are scenic, always tempting me in the Fall to pull over and take it all in.


There is a town about 15 miles north of Altoona right off 99, called Tyrone. It's nestled in the mountainside and is easily observed from the highway. It must have been vibrant over a hundred years ago as old railroads met there and the area is rich in lumber, but whenever I pass the dusty old town that reminds me of some of the coal towns where I grew up, I want to pull off the exit and visit it..

The temperatures are supposed to be in the 60s today and tomorrow.

Damn gales came alright. Blew half a dozen tiles of my roof and because it was rubbish bin morning everybody had their rubbish wheelie bins out overnight and half a dozen managed to blow their way into my garden somehow. Lord knows where my bin ended up, I sent my eldest son out this morning to find it. He's not back yet

I'm missing a bin, Yogi. It's green and has my address on the bottom. Look around for it.

It was 65 this morning now it's 39 and pouring down rain, going to have an eventful night with the weather.

Well, we're enjoying freezing rain and some snow. All classes have been canceled and there's no end in site. Hell, it was 80 yesterday.

It's pretty similar here, metro decided to cut school by 2 hours, thank God because I won't have to take my test on the Scarlett Letter.

Tried to go out, but the roads look too treacherous. It's in the 20s with 11 expected tonight.

Yea, I here Texas is really getting blasted. Don't suppose I'll get any sympathy when I tell you the lows here in CA next few days will be in the 20s. Freezing my ass off. Geez, if I had long underwear, I'd have them on.

Somethings are just out of whack. In New Jersey yesterday it was in the mid 50s and drizzly, today cooled down to 42, windy and partly sunny, but tomorrow we are suppose to get a mix of snow and rain.....Kly is going to get all the snow.

Ok, no big deal to most of you, BUT it was in the 20s last night here in "sunny" SoCal. BUT, I faithfully went for my morning run and FROZE MY ASS OFF. The grounds at the park actually had frost on the grass. Holy crap!! I can't take I tell you. Am I back in Michigan?

We had about 2" of snow here in the High Desert yesterday. Low of 19 degrees. Very pretty.

Yesterday was a record for Atlantic City Airport - 67 degrees. Today is even warmer. First day of Winter and we break a record for warmest day.

We hit 70 degrees yesterday morning at 8 am, which was a record high. We're clinging to mild temps today, but a cold front is approaching. While all of the snow is gone, we'll have seasonal temperatures for Xmas.

It's been mid 70's for a few days. Previously we froze our asses. Tomorrow it is supposed to drop back down into the 50's. Oh well, next summer is on the way.

I hate winter. 4 inches of snow (not a lot), but temps in the teens, wind 30 mphs. I can't imagine our friends in Chicago. Major shrinkage.

Off and on cold here. We've been getting down into the teens at night. Monday night it'll get down to 12. Thank God no precipitation.

We went from 5 degrees yesterday morning to 32 this morning. Wacky weather. Oli, do you still have some clothes left over from Pittsburgh days - 12 degrees, yeow?

Actually, no. But years ago one of my daughters sent me a winter coat from Oregon which I've worn maybe 5 times. I almost never wear a coat since I'm almost never out in the cold for very long.

Temperatures are in the 30s now. Yesterday we were hit with freezing rain in the afternoon that iced all of the sidewalks, driveways and side streets. Tonight we hit 0 degrees.

Very similar here, klyd.... it was 51° early this morning and the temperature is starting to drop like a rock.... it will be five below zero tonight (with windchills of -30°).

That's a fifty six degree swing in less that 24 hours!
