Well when he went in mazzone was underboss and Georgie was consig. and just about everything I have heard or read in the last ten years claims George is still official consigliere .. your right about borgesi not being a good choice for the position but like Georgie said, Georgie, Skinny Joey, and Mazzone fought for control of the family and uncle joe was keeping the seat warm for them. So time will tell.

And as of today I def agree Stevie, Chang, and Lance are probably top 3 on the street, but if Georgie and Uncle Joe are Not Guilty and get released tommorrow things could change very quickly.

Mazzone, George, and Joey as well as others did fight and they won. I like George A says by Default but they did off a few guys and got away with it. It was their backyard, they knew the spots where they could and couldn't pull shit off. Look what happen to the other-side with Stanfa they all went down. I actually picked up that book the Goodfella Tapes when I was on a flight the other week. If your interested in the Philly mob it's a great book. The transcripts from the Camden attorney's office Sal Avena was nice to read. It was Stanfa, Billy D'Elia, Piccolo, and maybe one or two other guys discussing war strategies and mob business.

New article on bigtrial gents - doesn't say much. I'm sure the comment is bullshit at the bottom of the article though Your right Jose...it really doesn't say too much. Maybe he'll add to it later. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 No Questions, No Verdict In Mob Trial By George Anastasia For Bigtrial.net One day after declaring they were at an impasse, jurors in the racketeering conspiracy retrial of mob boss Joe Ligambi and his nephew George Borgesi spent about seven hours deliberating behind closed doors, then called it a day. The panel is due back 9:30 tomorrow to start what will be the fifth day of deliberations in the trial which began back in November. There were no questions or notes sent to the judge today, but at the end of the day word was that the jury had a list of items and perhaps questions that it would present first thing in the morning. It was impossible to determine whether the ongoing talks had broken the logjam. In a note sent Monday afternoon the panel said it had voted twice on all five charges and had not reached unanimity on any question. The jury in the first trial deliberated for 21 days. According to one source in the defense camp, the panel has already inquired about next Monday -- a federal holiday, Martin Luther King Day -- and whether deliberations would be held in the event there was no verdict before then. http://www.bigtrial.net/2014/01/no-questions-no-verdict-in-mob-trial.html

What about they walk today the agents will at the county jail visiting nicodemo with a section 8 voacher anywhere in the usa and a million in a briefcase saying you ready to start snitching. That's EXACTLY what they're going to do. Now I'm not saying it'll work. I'm a Bronx guy and I don't know Nicodemo from a hole in the wall. But when they lose here, they'll offer him more incentive than ever to flip.

Scumbag judge, I don't care what you guys say, he is ProGovt and wants to slam these guys like he did there friends. Judge is NOGOOD Some people on this board are so ignorant of the legal process. A properly functioning judge benefits not the state nor the defendants. A judge's job is to make sure that attorneys' motions match Federal/ State code and go through proper channels. He is to help make sure that defense and the government's questions and discovery do not confuse the lay jury. Don't get me wrong, I have very strong opinions about this retrial and these charges, but there have been a ton of ignorant comments about the legal process on this thread. Lame pot shots at the judge take the cake. Or were you expecting Hon. Robreno (a citizen), to just let Ligambi and Borgesi leave the courthouse with their families every day after hearings?

You are really kidding yourself. The vast majority of federal judges, having backgrounds themselves with the US attorney's office, are very often slighted towards the prosecution. If anything, these mafia trials in Philly have proven the extent to which a federal judge is willing to hand out moronic sentences and rule in every fashion for the prosecution. It is really great to watch federal prosecutors, themselves the product of a winner-take-all, convictions at any cost system that produces massive misconduct (as Judge Kozinski has openly stated) go on to accept and prompt such behavior from the "objective" bench. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/11/blistering-9th-circuit-di_n_4426802.html

Should probably ask Mr. Kierney. I guess if you're Italian, you should be in prison. I've read the RICO Act, and I can tell you it's more appropriate... for some of those guys over in Washington than it is for me or any of my fellas here

I'm not "kidding myself". I understand that many judges may have been prosecutors in the past. I'm not saying that their personal feelings probably lead them to feel that Ligambi and Borgesi are guilty as sin. But if a judge were to sandbag to personally develop a hardon for Ligambi and Borgesi would open them up to multiple appeals and a review de novo. Trust me, the last thing Robreno wants is to negatively influence the trial. In many states an attorney can file a motion to the bias judge's peers. There are plenty of judges that are "soft on crime" order the trial reviewed de novo.
I'm glad you could find one article citing biased judges. It doesn't mean it will be the case here. I've listened to a majority of the first trial. While I'm not excellent at Civil Procedure of Federal Law, nothing he ordered (other than remanding defendants to stay locked up) could be determined as "egregious favoritism". Even allowing Nicky Skins tapes was legal. But man… Eddie and the rest of the Defense Attorneys have won many of their motions.
Now on the other hand, if you wana view this trial as a baseball game with your LCN hat on… go ahead and yell at the "blind umpire". But he hasn't strayed from Judicial norms of a Federal Trial Judge.

Isn't John Ciangalini, Joe Grande, Wayne Grande, and Eric Esposito out there too? Wayne Grande is a rat and Esposito is also under indictment but was severed from the case
