At the end of the day, I don't buy for one minute that John Scalish wanted his brother in law, Maishe Rockman, to appoint James Licavoli as boss. It made no sense except for Rockman. Due to the "tenuous" relationship that Rockman had with Big Ange Lonardo (who were both married to John Scalish's sisters), all the evidence points to Rockman wanting Jack White in as boss so his role would not be diminished. If Angelo Lonardo was appointed boss (as he should have been), he would have diminished Rockman's power and influence because he believed that Cosa Nostra was "this thing of ours" meaning "for Italians only." Rockman hated when Lonardo was talking to his counterparts in NY or Chicago and they would make him get up and leave when conversations got sensitive. Rockman never accepted the fact that he was not a made member, however, he was very important to the family (with Bill Presser/Jackie Presser of the IBT) and that should no be overlooked.
