FrankMazola-
I don't want to answer for JCB or anything. But a lot of people feel this way. Ligambi gets by on a "no penchant for violence" reputation publicly, even though he served 10 years for killing Frankie Flowers and got off on a technicality. He's a real (or wannabe, whatever you choose to believe) Angelo Bruno type.
Borgesi is known as a loose canon with a mean streak. A real student of the "Nicodemo Scarfo School for the Incompetent Napoleon Complex Wiseguy". People in Philadelphia and New Jersey have seen more than enough of this type of gangster and they don't want to see another one walking around South Philly.[/quote]
Frank you a lawyer or a prosecutor? To me you sound like a prosecutor, anyways when you say he's "known to be a loose cannon" what do you mean? I wanna here from people that actually know the guy, not a bunch of suit n ties gossiping like girls at the nearest restaurant bar closest to the courthouse about what a lying informant is saying, Not one of you know him personally and it's all hearsay but still speak about the guy like its facts, so it don't hold up in my court buddy lol I bet the guys on the street that can't collect deadbeat jagoff gambling debts, will be very happy to see a "man of honor" back on the street, rules will be put back in place. You will never get that my friend, Keep prosecuting poor people that have no chance against our system buddy, karma's a bitch

I saw GA posted on his Blog a few times given the assortment of comments being made. He asked one question to the audience? What should I cover guys this trial? The scarfo trial or the Masternardo Trial?
So go to bigtrial.net and let george hear your voice He never asked the audience anything. He just said he wanted to move on to the other trials... "George Anastasia January 17, 2014 at 10:43 AM I'd rather have fewer comments and less vitriol. But unfortunately that's the nature of the "new" media we're all dealing with. Would like to move on to covering the Scarfo trial and the Mastronardo case, also Galati and Nicodemo. Let's all try to stayed focused on the issues.Well the Ligambi-Borgesi trial is almost over and if GA had to pick one of the other cases i'd definitely go with the Nicodemo trial...that one should be real good. Plus it's a state case so maybe we'll get to see some of it. Pretty sure PA permits camera's in the Courtroom. Anyone know for sure? The Galati trial should be good but he lacks the made guy stature of Nicodemo. The Mastronardo case is a Sports Book case...eh. Most interesting part to me will be the sentencing. Scarfo case should be decent. Aren't Nicky Sr and Vic Amuso unindicted conspirators? Would be great if someone called them to testify even if they would only invoke the 5th.

Well given Nicodemo and Galati are Grand Jury cases there really isn't much he can tell us because it's not like he's allowed in the court room. So for him to move onto the Scarfo case or Masternardo case I would narrow it down. I don't think George wants to write about the Masternardo's they wield too much power. He'll probably start covering the scarfo trial. Which is basically a corporate takeover and they bought a lot of toys and who knows if there is any money left. I feel like you could sum that case up by comparing it to one episode of American Greed parallel to a guy running a ponzi scheme.

What I do is irrelevant (a majority of lawyers aren't prosecutors or defense atty's). Just what I said: Borgesi has a short fuse. That's straight from the mouths of many of the South Philly posters as well as people in the know I've talked to about the case. (I'm from Belleville, NJ. Not "the courthouse" by the way). He's everything Ligambi isn't.
I'm pretty sure JCB shares my opinion on this... Hell, ask Angelo Lutz for that matter.

Everybody hates Borgesi, but I think its pretty funny how people pick and choose the criminals they "like or dislike". Theyre all scumbags deep down, especially Uncle Joe. Yea Borgesi is a loud mouth ugly looking prick who def. needs an ass kicking. But I would never wish jail on anyone. I mean sure if hes committing crimes, he deserves to be in jail. But im not gonna wish the guy to die in jail for stuff I have read in books or heard on a forum.

@steve that's true. Actually people give Ligambi a pass when in reality he helped shoot Frankie Flowers. I even catch myself doing that.

George Anastasia seems to think one more note from the jury saying they're deadlocked and the Judge will read the verdict(s) that the jury has already come to and declare a mistrial on the others.

Deliberations To Resume In Mob Trial By George Anastasia For Bigtrial.net
After a two-day snow storm delay, the jury in the racketeering conspiracy trial of mob boss Joe Ligambi and his nephew George Borgesi was expected to resume deliberations this morning.
This will be the eighth day of deliberations for the panel of 11 women and one man.
The jury announced last week that it had reached a partial verdict, deciding two of the five counts in the case. Judge Eduardo Robreno urged them to keep deliberating despite a note that indicated they had a "firm difference of opinion" on the other three counts.
Whether the days off will change their perspective remains to be seen. The conventional wisdom is that if the panel sends out another note indicating they are deadlocked, the judge would be hard pressed not to take the partial verdict and declare a mistrial on the other counts.
With a weekend and another potential snow storm looming, several observers were predicting that tomorrow, Friday, will bring some resolution to the case.

I've always looked at Ligambi has playing with house money.Even if he gets convicted and basically has to spend the rest of his life in prison he still had those 14 years of freedom from 97 to 2011.I mean you don't see many mob murder trials where the defendants win an appeal.A couple of comments made by the prosecution that enabled that new trial didn't really change the facts of that case. You see a lot of comments of how bad Ligambi is getting screwed but basically he's pretty lucky.I mean you go from doing life in Graterford Prison to spending the next 14 summers at the jersey shore. I agree. Your chance for appeal is thinner than a ten speed wheel. On what grounds did that conviction for the Frankie Flowers murder get overturned? Long John and Al Daidone got their murder conviction for the hit on John McCullough thrown out too....prosecutorial misconduct. But they served some time for that one just like Ligambi did on the Flowers murder before it was overturned.

CG, The case is Commonwealth v. Scarfo, 416 Pa. Super. 329, 611 A.2d 242 (1992). The convictions were overturned and a retrial was ordered. Defendants, eight alleged members of the Mafia, were convicted in the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County, Criminal Division, Nos. 8707–3482–3511, 3494, 3495, 3497; 8707–3482 3/7, 3490, 3491, 3492, 3493; 8707–3508, 3509, 3511; 8707–3482 2/7, 3486, 3487, 3488, 3489; 8707–3498–3501; 8707–3482–3485; 1938–1941 Dec. T., 1988; C.P. 87–07–3502–3505, Clarke, J., of first-degree murder, criminal conspiracy and possession of an instrument of crime. The defendants appealed. The Superior Court, Nos. 1481, 1444, 1483, 1516, 1518, 1519, 3136, and 3480 Philadelphia 1990, Cirillo, J., held that: (1) defendants' double jeopardy rights were not violated; (2) proper standard for review of prosecution intrusion into defense camp is “very real likelihood of prejudice to the defendant;” (3) reversible error occurred by prosecution intrusion into defense camp by reason of one codefendant's change of plea; (4) references to five codefendants as “made” members of the Mafia constituted reversible error; (5) no error resulted from jury instructions; and (6) reversible error occurred as result of prosecutor's reference in closing argument to defendants as “wolves,” “pack of wolves,” and “the pack.” http://www.leagle.com/decision/1992745416PaSuper329_1717

Should probably ask Mr. Kierney. I guess if you're Italian, you should be in prison. I've read the RICO Act, and I can tell you it's more appropriate... for some of those guys over in Washington than it is for me or any of my fellas here
