I did not like once upon a time in America. All it was to me was a series of scenes not a free flowing story. Sounds to me that you may have watched the shorter edited version.....which is extremely confusing. The uncut version is the one that you should watch. Flows a lot better and makes much more sense. Personally one of my favorite mob movies.
Don Cardi Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

Personally one of my favorite mob movies. Yeah, are you sure you didn't watch the American released 2 hour one? I heard that was terrible and convoluted and left a bad taste about the movie in many people's mouths. The full version is nearly 4 hours and is the quintessential crime epic in my opinion. The Godfather is a masterpiece and an utterly stunning movie, but I feel Once Upon a Time has a much larger scope and it just feels greater than The Godfather, yet I probably still like The Godfather better.

In no particular order:
A Bronx Tale The Godfather Trilogy The Departed Goodfellas Mean Streets Casino Gotti ( Assante's performance makes it great.) The Pope Of Greenwich Village Across 110th Street What Doesn't Kill You ( A gritty and realistic film on everyday criminal life.

1. Once Upon a Time in America (the greatest movie I've seen, not my favorite)
2. Goodfellas (my favorite movie)
3. The Departed
4. Godfather I & II (I won't separate them)
5. Jackie Brown/Se7en (Can't decide!)
Pulp Fiction would be next
If the Big Lebowski counts, it becomes #5 lol. Hilarious.
Close (no order): A Bronx Tale, American Gangster, Training Day, Heat, Reservoir Dogs, Fargo, American Psycho, Raging Bull, Casino, Donnie Brasco, Carlito's Way (underrated), Scarface, North by Northwest, The Insider, and if war movies count: Apocalypse Now & Full Metal Jacket.
